The role

Program Manager / Director Strategy & Delivery Core HR and Payroll Technology Contributes to the overall success of GHRT Payroll, Time, Core HR and Rewards teams globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Partner with Global HR in end-to-end business case creation process. Provide technology specific expertise for effort and financial estimation, facilitate communication between key stakeholders to arrive at an agreed upon final business case.
  • Strong Communication, facilitation and presentation skills for developing communication strategies for Executive approval through to implementation of strategies and programs.
  • Direct accountability for the management and delivery of a portfolio of multiple technology projects in support of Global HR.
  • Develops strategies and executes on initiatives to move all geographies towards the global standard. Ensure that new initiatives have a global application, except as required to meet specific local regulatory requirements and are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Guide and mentor project managers from Project Delivery and Support (PD&S) team in the successful delivery of projects. Act as an SME on the Scotiabank Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF) for assigned project managers.
  • Monitor status of projects to ensure condition is accurately depicted and that major risks and issues are receiving the appropriate level of attention.
  • Oversees the completion of the monthly Project Status Reports and present to senior leadership including Business Sponsor, Project Leadership Team (PLT) and Steering Committee (as required).
  • The position requires solid understanding of technologies, project management and life cycle development methodologies, as well as technical insights pertaining to the area.
  • Matrix reporting relationships for team members in Bogota (as identified) to build a high-performance environment and retain, develop and motivate team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behavior, communicating vision/values/business strategy.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.


  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • 5-10 years' experience in managing medium & large sized complex projects that have significant IT and operational components. Financial Industry experience preferred.
  • Expert familiarity with project management methodologies
  • High Degree of specialized technical knowledge (SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP), Time & Attendance systems, Pension and Benefits and integrations.
  • A recognized bachelor's degree in business or technology
  • Creative, self-starting, results-oriented and highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills to apply this knowledge to independently resolve complex business problems.
  • Strong strategic and analytical capability. Thinks critically to evaluate broad impacts of work
  • Able to assess difficult compliance and other regulatory issues, exercise sound judgement expeditiously with respect to such issues and defend decisions
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective business relationships, influence others and comfort interacting with senior executives (VP+)
  • Must have a very good understanding of current IT practices, systems development techniques, and keep current with rapidly changing technology.
  • PMP Designation an asset
  • Fluency in Spanish an asset
