Full Job Description
As a Senior Data Visualization Engineer, you will be a key owner of our product suite, partnering with Analytics Engineers and Product Managers to build exceptional data experiences. This is a role for someone eager to learn, collaborate, and make an impact on a rapidly growing business. In this role, you will: - Partner and Build. You will collaborate closely with our senior analytics engineers, data scientists, and product managers to build and iterate on our core data products. - Create and Design Intuitive Data Experiences. You will take on the challenge of transforming complex, messy data into engaging and informative visualizations that clearly explain key business trends to stakeholders and executives. - Showcase Your Engineering Craft. You will own, diagnose, and solve technical problems in our codebase and help improve our engineering velocity by adopting best practices in testing, component design, and AI-assisted development. - Learn the Business. You will support the team by addressing ad hoc business-critical questions, providing a valuable opportunity to learn about the member business and establish yourself as a trusted partner to our stakeholders. - Explore and Innovate. You will have the opportunity to explore new technologies and share your opinions on how we can leverage emerging trends, such as Generative AI, to enhance our products and workflows. We are looking for: - Deep Curiosity and High Agency. You are eager to constantly learn across the stack and about the business problems we solve. You are a self-starter, capable of self-direction when given context, and are motivated to build great data products that impact business decisions. - Foundational Data Experience Design. You have a passion for making complex data easy to understand. You understand the core principles of data visualization, including the effective use of charts, color, and information hierarchy. You can apply these skills to create prototypes and iterate with users rapidly. Knowledgeable about trade-offs between different chart types and able to make good decisions on how to represent various types of data best. - Front-End Skills. You are passionate about building beautiful web apps that focus on data explanation and exploration. You have experience with Node.js and front-end JavaScript (TypeScript encouraged). You have experience working with a component framework, such as React or Vue.js. D3 or other visualization experience preferred. - A Collaborative Spirit. You thrive in a team environment, enjoy partnering closely with other engineers and cross-functional team members, and are open to giving and receiving feedback to achieve shared success. - Data-centric. You're familiar with working with data teams who craft metrics and know how to query data using skills like SQL or GraphQL. Basic statistical knowledge and intuition is preferred. - A Product Thinker. You are interested in the entire product lifecycle and are keen to learn how to build excellent products. You can participate in product development discussions and help turn user feedback into new features. - Interest in Generative AI. You have some experience with, or an intense curiosity about, building with Gen AI tooling and can contribute ideas on how to integrate these capabilities into our products. - Embodies the Netflix Values while bringing a new perspective to continue improving our culture Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $340,000.00 - $510,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location. Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
