What you'll be doing

You will be joining the enterprise technology team in CIBC. As the Data Application Developer is responsible for the detailed technical design and development of applications using various technology platforms. The role performs tasks of technical depth and breadth, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to conduct impact analysis and provide feedback on problems with recommended solutions. The Senior Application Developer determines methods and approaches to projects, transforming business requirements specifications into programming instructions, designing, coding and testing programs. In addition, the role plays a key role in the development and implementation of database management solutions, supporting the company’s backup plans. The role uses judgement and autonomy on day to day tasks, exercising considerable latitude to conduct data source analysis and negotiate with users regarding requirements.

How you'll succeed

  • Analytical Skills - Able to analyze business requirements. Design and write technical solutions.

  • Programming Skills -Develop, code and test end-to-end stack of applications. Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, and debugging. Experience in building queries in RDBMS databases.

  • Troubleshooting  and Technical Skills 64 Work closely with key business and technology partners to ensure that business and client impact issues are well understood and addressed. Ensure adherence to all regulatory and information security standards and policies are maintained in all aspects of the application management.Provide technical guidance concerning business implications of application development projects. May need to carry pager for production support.

  • Relationship Management -Build strong relationships and partnerships with technical team members, clients, vendors and peers. Lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure problems/issues are identified and resolved. Express oneself and communicate with others verbally at an advanced level; recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. 2-3 yearsas a Data Application Developer with strong Oracle, SQL coding experience. You must have good knowledge and understanding year of Software Development Life Cycle, good understanding of batch processing. Experience in application production support including logical thinking, organizational and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage relationships with technology and business partners to ensure the systems and processes supporting the applications are operating effectively and efficiently.

  • You have a degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field of study.
