What You Will Do This position will be filled at either the Computing Systems Tec 3/4 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. Innovative Customer Experience (FS) division is seeking an energetic and customer-focused Windows and Mac OS X System Administrator for the ICE Field Services (ICE-FS) group. ICE-FS consists of approximately 90 professionals, technicians, and students. The successful candidate will work in ICE-FS and will be providing dedicated desktop support services to an assigned customer base in various locations across the laboratory. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support services in a heterogeneous computing environment for ICE-FS customers.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements: - Support Windows and Mac desktop systems
- Resolve issues or fulfill requests through Windows and Mac remote desktop support
- Troubleshoot issues through on-site field support
- Installing, configuring and troubleshooting desktop, or mobile systems, workstations, and network issues including, wireless and role-based access control in a heterogeneous environment
- Setup and installation of hardware and software
- Provide outstanding customer service, including working with customers to resolve issues
- Experience working well in a team environment as well as working independently
- Must have good time management, organization skills and outstanding customer service
Additional Minimum Job Requirements: Computing Systems Tec 4 - Experience with vulnerability remediation and system patching
- Experience with utilizing automated installation and configuration management tools
- Experience utilizing a work ticket management system to distribute work, gather metrics, and efficiently respond to customer requests
- Providing technical solutions to complex problems
- Providing assistance and knowledge to peers
- Mentoring and training fellow team members in advanced Windows system administration
- Demonstrated excellent customer service, exceptional work ethic and time management
- Extensive experience interacting with customer sand peers in a professional and response manner
Education/Experience: Computing Systems Tec 3Position requires a high school diploma and 2-4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Technical Institute graduation or AA degree may be preferred.
Education/Experience: Computing Systems Tec 4Position requires a high school diploma or equivalency and 4-6 years directly related experience; or; and equivalent combination of education directly related to the occupation. Technical institute graduation or AA degree may be preferred.
Desired Qualifications: - Active DOE L or Q clearance, or equivalent, transferable clearance
- Working knowledge of a Public Safety Answering Point, Security Operations Center, or Emergency Operations Center.
- Experience supporting First Responder or Public Safety Entity.
- Knowledge of emerging computing technologies
- Experience mentoring IT team members in Windows system administration.
Work Location : The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Position Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 Year.

Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.
Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance, and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
