Full Job Description
Primary Function:

The Commercial Account Manager serves as the primary commercial and relationship lead between Dashiell's customers and internal teams. Working closely with Engineering, Pre-Construction, Construction, and Field Services, this role manages customer accounts and commercial opportunities across the full project lifecycle - from early engagement and RFQ through contract execution and handoff - with a focus on HV/MV substations, transmission lines, and BESS projects. The position will be based in our Houston, Texas office located at 12031 Kurland Dr, Houston, TX 77034 and will report to Dashiell's Sales Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
• Manage and grow assigned customer accounts focused on HV/MV substations, transmission lines, and BESS projects.
• Partner with Operations and Business Development to identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities within existing and target accounts.
• Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for customers, coordinating technical input from internal teams as needed.
• Review RFQs, contracts, and customer requirements to define commercial scope, assumptions, exclusions, risks, and pricing strategy.
• Lead the development of commercial proposals, working with engineering, estimating, and construction teams to ensure accuracy and alignment.
• Coordinate internal inputs across engineering, construction, pre-construction, procurement, and finance to deliver complete, executable proposals.
• Support customer meetings, negotiations, and clarification calls related to pricing, scope, schedule, and contract terms.
• Track active opportunities, follow up on open commercial items, and drive timely responses to customers.
• Support contract negotiations and commercial discussions in collaboration with leadership and legal teams.
• Participate in opportunity reviews, bid/no-bid decisions, and formal handoff meetings as projects transition into execution.
• Maintain and improve standard proposal content, pricing tools, and account documentation to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Maintain awareness of customer relationship health throughout project execution and provide feedback and support to convert existing work into continued future opportunities.
• Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Required
• Bachelor's degree required (4 years of directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the power or energy infrastructure industry, preferably supporting HV/MV substations, transmission, or BESS projects.
• Experience with EPC project delivery and familiarity with project phases from pursuit through execution.
• Experience reviewing RFQs, contracts, and commercial terms to identify scope, risk, and pricing considerations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and construction documents.
• Experience supporting cost estimates or proposals for power projects, including materials, equipment, labor, and indirect costs.
• Ability to support pricing strategies, margin targets, and commercial decision-making.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships at multiple organizational levels.
• Comfortable leading customer meetings, presentations, and commercial discussions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate scope, value, and commercial terms.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Construction, Pre-Construction, Procurement, and Finance.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple accounts and active pursuits simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented with a disciplined approach to documentation, follow-up, and opportunity tracking.
• Proficiency with common business software tools including spreadsheets, CRM systems, and document management platforms.
• Valid driver's license required; must maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.

Preferred
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering; an advanced degree in Business or Engineering is a plus.
• PE License or plan to acquire a PE License.
• Prior experience managing customer accounts, proposals, or commercial negotiations.
• Experience with CAD/BIM viewers and engineering document management systems.

Physical Requirements:
• This position requires minimal physical effort.
• Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
• Must be able and willing to travel approximately 20-30% as required by customer accounts and assignments.
• Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
• May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
