What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC's team, the Business Systems Analyst is responsible for formulating system scope and objectives, validating developed requirements, testing, training, and implementing applications and providing end-user support. The role performs technical depth and breadth tasks, validating and documenting business requirements for assigned projects to maximize operational efficiency and ensure project control procedures and policies are executed. The Business Systems Analyst determines project methods and approaches, providing business support relative to developing, analyzing, and identifying process changes or system enhancements. The role uses judgment and autonomy on daily tasks, providing operational support for projects after implementation, including problem resolution and recommendations to ensure ongoing success. The role proactively addresses problems within the scope of responsibility and identifies areas for possible improvements.

How you'll succeed
  • Understanding and Documenting Requirements - Work closely with business partners to gather complex business requirements and facilitate solution design discussions to ensure you meet project needs. Build strong relationships, lead discussions, listen and ask the right questions to ensure solutions meet requirements.
  • Solution Design - Build client-focused solutions that meet business requirements. Prepare and validate solution design documents around areas such as scope clarification, solution requirements, and quality assurance.
  • Leading and Mentoring - Support end-to-end project implementation as a subject matter expert and provide guidance to a diverse team of technology and project professionals. Maintain a collaborative work environment and support team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.


Who you are
  • You have 3+ years of Business Systems Analyst experience (i.e., writing user stories, creating and updating systems Use Cases, etc.). You have strong experience in SQL Queries and Data mapping. You also have experience in financial estimates. It is considered an asset if you have experience in CIBC's Enterprise Data Hub.
