Your role and key responsibilities As the BSI Design Manager, you will provide strategic leadership for all design activities within Battery Specific Infrastructure (BSI). You will own the implementation of business and product requirements, steer engineering contractors, and ensure seamless integration of stakeholder needs. This role demands high-level decision-making, cross-functional coordination, and governance of design standards, BIM, and document control processes to deliver optimized, compliant, and future-ready infrastructure.
This position is in-person and located in the charming town of St. Thomas ON.
What you bring to the team - Own the translation of business and product user requirements into actionable design deliverables. Ensure alignment with operational objectives and long-term infrastructure strategy.
- Collect, validate, and integrate requirements from multiple stakeholders. Drive consensus and maintain traceability to ensure all inputs are reflected in design outputs.
- Lead interface management across technical units and disciplines. Ensure seamless coordination and resolution of design dependencies to prevent conflicts and delays.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to engineering contractors. Ensure compliance with technical standards, project objectives, and cost/schedule targets.
- Govern technical change processes across all BSI design disciplines. Ensure traceability, minimize disruption, and maintain alignment with project milestones and business priorities.
- Develop and enforce design guidelines, procedures, and best practices. Drive standardization to improve efficiency, quality, and scalability of design processes.
- Oversee BIM implementation and document control BSI systems. Ensure digital model integrity, version control, and compliance with project protocols.
- Establish and monitor design risk management and quality assurance frameworks. Proactively identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure adherence to QA/QC standards.
What makes you stand out - Master's Degree - Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years of industry experience, minimum of 5+ years in a leadership role.
- Clean and Dry Room design with Strategic Design Leadership experience is required.
- Experience with Cross-Functional Coordination.
- Demonstrated skills in Technical Governance & Standardization.
- Digital Design Management experience.
- Advanced competency in MS Office Suite; experience with SharePoint, MS Teams.
- PMP or similar an asset
