Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic benefits leader to join our HR Total Rewards team as Associate Director, Benefits. This role will play a key part in shaping, managing, and evolving our comprehensive benefits programs, with primary responsibility for U.S. offerings and meaningful involvement in global initiatives across the Americas, Europe, and MEA regions.

As a senior member of the Benefits function, this individual will contribute to strategy development, oversee day-to-day operations, and ensure our programs remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with our commitment to employee well-being. Essential Functions of the Job:

Strategy & Leadership

  • Partner with the Sr. Director, Benefits to develop and execute a forward-looking benefits strategy aligned with business objectives and talent priorities.

  • Evaluate market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging practices to continuously enhance benefit offerings.

  • Contribute to global benefits strategy, ensuring alignment while accommodating regional needs.

Program Management (U.S. Focus)

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of U.S. health, welfare, retirement, and wellness programs.

  • Ensure programs are competitive, cost-effective, and deliver a strong employee value proposition.

  • Oversee annual processes such as open enrollment, vendor renewals, and plan design updates.

Global Benefits Support

  • Collaborate with regional HR partners and external consultants to support benefits programs across Americas, Europe, and MEA.

  • Provide governance, guidance, and consistency for global benefit initiatives where applicable.

  • Participate in global vendor strategy and program harmonization efforts.

Vendor & Financial Management

  • Manage relationships with brokers, consultants, and third-party administrators.

  • Lead vendor selection, performance evaluation, and contract negotiations.

  • Partner with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost management strategies.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and global equivalents).

  • Monitor legislative developments and implement necessary program adjustments.

  • Maintain strong governance, documentation, and audit readiness.

Employee Experience & Communication

  • Enhance employee understanding and engagement through clear, effective benefits communications.

  • Partner with internal teams to deliver seamless and positive benefits experience.

  • Use data and feedback to continuously improve program effectiveness.

Team Collaboration

  • Work cross-functionally with HRBPs, HROps, Payroll, Legal, and external partners.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on benefits-related matters.

  • Mentor and support junior team members as appropriate.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP), including reporting and data management

  • Experience with benefits administration systems and vendor platforms

  • Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel (e.g., modeling, pivot tables, data analysis)

  • Ability to leverage data and metrics to evaluate program effectiveness, trends, and cost drivers

  • Experience managing or supporting HR technology integrations and system implementations

  • Comfort working with global systems and coordinating across multiple platforms and vendors

Other Qualifications:

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in benefits, including strategic and operational leadership

  • Deep expertise in U.S. (multi-state) benefits programs; exposure to global benefit strongly preferred

  • Experience in biotech, life sciences, or similarly complex, highly regulated industries preferred

  • Strong knowledge of benefits compliance and regulatory requirements

  • Demonstrated success managing vendors and complex benefit programs

Preferred

  • Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR).

Travel:

  • Limited, as needed to other company office locations

Salary Range: $130,600.00 - $180,600.00 annually

Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
