Full Job Description
Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager of Global Benefits to join our Ashland business working remotely. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Total Rewards and HR Services Team leadership team within Human Resources. This position will report to the Vice President of Total Rewards and HR Services.

The Senior Manager of Global Benefits is responsible for the design, governance, administration, effectiveness, and financial sustainability of Ashland's full spectrum of global benefits programs to attract and retain talent and improve the health and productivity of our employees. You will support employees, executives, and strategic business objectives worldwide in the following areas:
  • Health & Welfare
  • Retirement & Savings (including defined benefits and retiree life and medical plans)
  • Survivor & Protection
  • Time-Off & Leave Programs
  • Wellbeing & Lifestyle
  • Work-Life & Family
  • Other Perquisites & Supplemental Benefits
  • Executive Compensation


Additional responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Limited Travel - to work with your team and leadership meetings
  • Actively contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing on goals and focusing on performance and safety
  • Improve the organization capacity and capabilities through building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent and utilizing positive communications and influence with others

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10-15 years of progressive benefits management experience in benefits policy design, governance, compliance and administration globally.
  • Five years of management experience
  • Experience with designing, recommending, and implementing executive incentive compensation programs (e.g. short-term and long-term incentives).
  • Strong experience with directly managing all aspects of U.S. benefits programs including defined benefit, defined contribution, retiree medical/life, and union plans.
  • Experience supporting or influencing union benefits negotiations and resolving union grievances regarding benefits offered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of fiduciary responsibilities and SOX-related controls for benefits programs.
  • Experience managing benefits administration through external partners and platforms (e.g., Paycom, Benefitfocus).
  • Experience managing global and local brokers and supporting benefit decisions for countries in which we operate.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times
  • The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different


The following skill sets are preferred:
  • Preparing and presenting materials to the compensation committee of the board
  • Experience evaluating market data and recommending a total rewards package for executive level roles
