Job Description Summary:

The Assistant Commissioning Manager supports the planning, execution, and oversight of testing and commissioning activities for SOLV Energy’s High‑Voltage (HV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Photovoltaic (PV) projects. In this role, you will work closely with the Commissioning Manager and technical subject‑matter experts to ensure all systems and components are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices. The Assistant Commissioning Manager helps manage project‑level commissioning teams and coordinates with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure a seamless transition from commissioning through project closeout. This position plays a key role in delivering high‑quality, reliable, and fully operable renewable energy assets.

This role is hybrid, with onsite presence required at job sites and partial remote work. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Managetheprojectcommissioning team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective execution of tasks.

  • Report daily to the CommissioningManager,the status of eachprojectassigned.

  • Review technical, contractual, and regulatory requirements related to commissioning andassistwiththedevelopment ofa project milestone and deliverables list,project specific commissioning plan,andcommissioningprocedures.

  • Communicate with the OEM suppliersregardingequipment specific testing and commissioning activities.

  • Coordinate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and quality assurance, to ensure alignmentinallcommissioning activities.

  • Assistwiththedevelopment ofintegratedP6testing and commissioning schedules.Ensure that the integrated testing and commissioning schedule is updated weekly

  • Assistwith thedevelopment of thecommissioning resource planfor the project.

  • Review initial energization procedures andassistCommissioningEngineer with switching activities as requested. Performsubsequentswitching activities of the MVAC collection circuits and Aux Power circuits asrequiredduring facility Hot Commissioning. Develop switching plans and LOTO asrequired.

  • Identify, analyze, and recommend corrective actions to resolve technical issuesidentifiedduring commissioning or initial operation.

  • Support thedevelopment of standards and processes to improvebusiness.

  • Manage allpre-commissioning, cold, warm, and hotcommissioning tests,includingsynchronization,functional testing,utilitycapability testing,andprojectacceptancetestingfor all BESS, HV orPVplant systems.

  • Ensure all commissioning activitiescomply withindustry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

  • Prepare detaileddailycommissioning reports,reviewtest results, issuesencountered, and corrective actions taken.

  • Monitor projecttimelinesand resources to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Continuously improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.

  • PrepareandmaintainLessons Learned andequipment warranty tracking logs.

  • Establish and manage:SafetyTagging, Lockout, Red Rope, andWork Permit Programsensuringsitecompliance withallprovisionsupon the start of cold commissioning activities throughout project Substantial Completion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge andcommissioning ofUtilityscale solar, battery storage, and high voltagesubstations.

  • Knowledge and experience with HV and MV switching operations, and equipment grounding.

  • Knowledge and experience withthemanagementand application of sitelock-out / tag-out (LOTO) safety program procedures.

  • Knowledge andexperience withsubstation protection and control (P26C) systems.

  • Knowledge ofFiberinstallation andtestrequirements.

  • SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioningrequirements.

  • DC systems architecture and testingrequirements.

  • Knowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.

  • NETA and IEEEstandardsrelated to utility scale solar generation,i.e.Transformers, MV and LV cabling, grounding, and solar specificcomponenttesting.

  • Understands the commercial performance of power plants.

  • A working knowledge of NERC compliance standards along with ISO and TSO testing and operational requirements is highly beneficial.

  • Familiarity with DCS / SCADA control systems and methods for utility scale generation a plus.

  • Knowledge of microprocessor protective relay testing is a plus.

  • Functional competencies include attention to detail, communication, customer focus, prioritization, and drive.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

  • Occasional exposure to weather, harsh outdoor environment,and variable site conditions.
