Job Purpose

American Honda Finance is currently seeking a Sr. Financial Analyst for our Accounting Operations division. The Sr. Financial Analyst will perform end-to-end credit loss analytics, allowance estimation, and financial forecast model administration/development for both US and Canadian consumer finance portfolios, per USGAAP and IFRS accounting standards under internal SOX controls, while also developing automated workflow applications, supporting data & analytics project initiatives, providing audit-ready data packages, and communicating insights to committees, management, and cross-functional teams.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Process/validate credit loss forecast models under SOX controls and prepare subsequent monthly/quarterly credit loss reserve reporting, journal entries
  • Perform analytics on originations, delinquency, net charge-off, probability of default, loss
  • Develop econometric credit loss forecast models and automated workflow applications
  • Prepare quarter-end footnotes and public debt disclosures related to credit loss and fair value of CFS portfolios for SEC / 10K reporting
  • Provide credit loss reserve forecasts to corporate planning department
  • Perform analytics on quarterly balance sheet and income statement financial statements
  • Provide data analytics and support explanations for internal SOX and external KPMG audits

Minimum Education Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics, data science, or a related business field required.
  • Preferred certifications: CFA, CPA, CMA, MBA


Minimum Experience:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive professional experience in forecasting credit losses, preferably for consumer and dealer finance portfolios.
  • Experience in data analytics, financial modeling, corporate finance, and financial planning preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Office Suite (Access, Word, PowerPoint) ERP systems (SAP, Business Objects, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, SAS) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).


Other Job Specific Skills:
  • Progressively develop and refine new forms of data analytics to capture potential risks, track and identify trends, and communicate effectively to management, credit loss committees, and cross-functional teams.
  • Present to large audiences with broad experience levels.
  • Ability to design and develop financial models based on specific accounting and reporting requirements.
  • Highly detailed analytics skills to understand, interpret, and effectively communicate results of financial models and data analytics.
