Full Job Description
Position Overview:
As our 5S Specialist you will lead the implementation and sustainment of 5S and visual workplace standards across the Cambridge Components facility to support safe, efficient, and well organized operations. The role drives employee engagement in workplace organization and continuous improvement practices that enhance operational performance and standardization.

Your Day to Day as our 5S Specialist

Establish and implement workplace organization standards across the facility
  • Lead the implementation of 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) within production and support areas.
  • Develop and implement workplace organization standards that support safe, efficient, and visually managed work environments.
  • Partner with production teams to integrate 5S practices into daily operations and standard work.

Sustain adherence to workplace organization standards
  • Conduct routine 5S audits to evaluate compliance with established standards.
  • Document audit findings and track corrective actions.
  • Work with supervisors and team members to address gaps and sustain improvements.

Support operational improvements through workplace organization and visual management
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, space utilization, and material organization.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste and improving efficiency.
  • Implement visual management tools such as labeling, shadow boards, and signage.

Build workforce capability in 5S practices
  • Deliver training and guidance to employees and supervisors on 5S principles and workplace organization standards.
  • Provide coaching and practical support during implementation activities.
  • Encourage employee participation and ownership of workplace organization practices.

Monitor and report on 5S program effectiveness
  • Maintain documentation, visual standards, and reporting tools related to 5S implementation.
  • Track audit results and improvement progress across the facility.
  • Provide updates and recommendations to operations leadership on improvement opportunities.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Encourage employee engagement in workplace organization initiatives.
  • Support improvement discussions within production teams.
  • Reinforce the importance of maintaining organized, efficient work environments.


Required Qualifications:
  • Postsecondary education in Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Industrial Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience implementing 5S or lean manufacturing tools such as kaizen, visual management, or standard work is preferred.
  • Experience supporting operational improvement initiatives or continuous improvement programs is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of 5S principles and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Ability to influence cross functional teams and support change initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to design and implement visual workplace tools such as shadow boards, labels, and signage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a production environment.
