Full Job Description
1Password is opening a new office in Austin, and we need someone to own the technology that makes it work. As a member of the IT team, this role is responsible for delivering an exceptional in person technology experience by supporting the workplace systems employees rely on every day. You'll own the office network, AV and collaboration systems, physical security technology, and provide hands on IT support for employees and new hires.
This is an onsite, individual contributor role based in Austin, reporting to the Manager of IT Ops. You will be the primary IT presence in the office, partnering closely with our remote IT Support team to bring the same high quality support experience into a physical workplace. While you'll own the technology that keeps the office running, you'll also help shape how workplace support evolves as 1Password grows beyond a fully remote company.
As only our second office location, this role offers a unique opportunity to help establish scalable processes, improve documentation, and influence the future of in person workplace technology and support. We're looking for someone who enjoys building, learning, and adapting in a fast paced environment where priorities can shift quickly, ambiguity is expected, and no two days are exactly alike.
How we're using AI today
Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers.
This is an onsite opportunity in Austin, Texas.
What we're looking for:
• 3+ years of experience in IT support, workplace technology, or infrastructure with hands on experience supporting office environments.
• Experience with office networking, including wired and wireless environments on platforms such as Cisco Meraki, Aruba, or Ubiquiti.
• Experience operating workplace AV systems, including video conferencing, room scheduling, multi zone audio, and display environments.
• Experience with physical security systems, including access control and camera platforms.
• Experience supporting office environments, including coordination with vendors, building management, and cross functional partners.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, evolving environment, balancing changing priorities while building new processes and improving existing ones.
Bonus points for:
• Experience working in a remote first company supporting physical office infrastructure.
• Experience with MDM platforms and device lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with SOC 2 or ISO 27001 requirements as they relate to workplace technology and physical security.
• Experience building documentation, operational processes, or workplace standards from the ground up.
• Comfort building automation workflows that reduce manual operational effort.
What you can expect:
Infrastructure
• Manage and maintain the Austin office network, including wired and wireless infrastructure.
• Operate and maintain the physical security stack, including access control, cameras, and integrated systems.
• Partner with the Security team on governance, audit trails, and compliance. Coordinate with building management on physical integrations and maintenance.
• Own vendor relationships and hardware lifecycle across workplace infrastructure, including uptime tracking and reliability monitoring.
• Follow and contribute to infrastructure and AV standards established by the broader IT team.
Employee Support & Workplace Experience
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employees requiring in person IT support, delivering an exceptional support experience across hardware, software, peripherals, AV, and workplace technology.
• Partner closely with the remote IT Support team to provide a seamless experience for employees, learning established support practices while contributing feedback to continuously improve the in person support model.
• Own the end to end onboarding technology experience for employees joining in Austin, including device provisioning, setup, orientation, and equipment returns.
• Own AV operations across a range of spaces, from huddle rooms to meeting and event environments. Manage video conferencing, room scheduling, multi zone audio, and displays, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they affect employees.
• Contribute to the broader IT support queue by handling remote support requests, ticket triage, documentation, and asynchronous troubleshooting for employees across the company.
• Build and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles that improve consistency and help scale workplace support as the company grows.
• Help define what great workplace support looks like for a growing remote first company. Identify opportunities to improve processes, tooling, documentation, and employee experience, partnering with the broader IT team to implement scalable solutions.
• Create a positive and welcoming in office environment for employees and visitors by ensuring workplace technology is reliable, approachable, and ready to support collaboration.
• Partner with teams including People, IT, Security, Finance, and Communications to support workplace operations and employee experience.
• Serve as the point of contact for building management and facilities vendors. Coordinate maintenance, service requests, and operational needs to ensure the office runs smoothly.
• As one of the primary onsite resources in Austin, provide occasional operational support beyond technology when needed. This may include coordinating building maintenance requests, assisting with vendor access, understanding office logistics such as deliveries and parking, and helping ensure day to day operations continue smoothly during planned absences of local partners.
What success looks like:
• The Austin office runs reliably from day one, with network, AV, and physical security systems operating to a high standard.
• Employees consistently receive an exceptional support experience, whether they engage with remote IT or receive hands on assistance in Austin.
• New hires arrive with a seamless onboarding experience and the technology they need to be productive from day one.
• Documentation, operational processes, and workplace standards mature alongside the office, helping establish a scalable model for future locations.
• Issues are identified and resolved proactively before they disrupt employees or workplace operations.
• You become a trusted onsite partner for employees and cross functional teams, known for your ownership, adaptability, and ability to navigate change while keeping the office running smoothly.
