Full Job Description
Position Summary
The Vice President, ASC Operations is a senior leader responsible for the clinical, operational, and financial performance of a growing ambulatory surgery center portfolio. This role blends strong business and clinical fluency, with a focus on physician partnership, clinical and operational excellence, and development of a next-generation operating model. The VP partners closely with ASC Facility Administrators, Medical Directors, and functional leaders to drive performance, consistency, and sustainable growth while reducing administrative burden on site teams through data, tools, and automation.

Scope: 7 ASC's (currently)

On site position: travel required

Compensation Range: $175k-275k (Dependent on Experience)

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio P&L and Performance Management
• Own portfolio-level P&L performance, including EBITDA / AOP (adjusted operating profit), cost per case, labor and supply management, and financial forecasting
• Create consistent operating cadence including dashboards, KPI reviews, and performance management routines
• Drive improvements in OR utilization, scheduling efficiency, turnover time, and patient flow

Clinical Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Oversight
• Partner with Medical Directors and clinical leaders to maintain high standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and regulatory compliance
• Ensure continuous survey readiness across CMS, state, and accreditation requirements
• Support quality improvement, infection prevention, and risk management programs

Growth and Strategic Development
• Drive case volume growth through physician engagement, recruitment, and service line expansion in partnership with clinic operations and medical director leadership
• Partner on acquisitions, de novo development, and integration of new ASCs
• Develop capital and strategic investment plans aligned with growth objectives

Physician and Partnership Leadership
• Serve as senior leader partner to physicians, hospital partners, and governing boards
• Support joint venture relationships and ensure alignment with strategic objectives
• Maintain strong relationships with surgeons, anesthesia partners, and stakeholders; ensure surgical needs are met

Talent and Leadership Development
• Develop and mentor ASC administrators and leadership teams
• Build scalable leadership structure including regional oversight as portfolio grows
• Partner with HR on staffing models, retention, and leadership development

Technology, Analytics, and Operational Innovation
• Drive adoption of data, analytics, and reporting tools to improve decision-making and reduce manual work
• Implement scalable processes and systems across the ASC portfolio
• Leverage automation and AI where appropriate to enhance efficiency and staff effectiveness

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, MHA, or related graduate degree preferred
  • RN licensure and surgical experience preferred


Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive ASC or surgical services operations experience, including multi-site leadership and expertise with relevant regulatory bodies
  • Proven success in P&L management, operational improvement, and growth initiatives
