Job Description

The Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Leader is responsible for the strategic leadership, organization, deployment, and growth of Stantec's US Power Delivery practice. This role is responsible for coordinating and mobilizing multidisciplinary transmission, distribution, substation, grid modernization, and related power delivery resources across projects nationwide.

T&D Leader develops and strengthens relationships with utility, renewable energy, data center, industrial, and public sector clients while driving sustainable revenue growth. The role partners closely with Business Center Leaders, Sector Leaders, Project Managers, and technical leaders to ensure delivery excellence, workforce utilization, client satisfaction, and profitable growth.

The successful candidate will combine operational leadership, technical credibility, business development expertise, and people leadership to position the practice as a trusted partner for clients and a preferred employer for top Power Delivery professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Market Leadership & Resource Development
  • Lead the planning, organization, and deployment of Power Delivery resources across the United States.
  • Monitor workload, capacity, utilization, and project demands to optimize staffing and delivery performance.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments across Regions, Business Centers, and the Delivery Center (including the Global Delivery Center (GDC) to meet client commitments.
  • Partner with project managers and technical leaders to proactively identify resource gaps and develop workforce solutions.
  • Support project delivery excellence by ensuring adequate technical leadership, quality management, and risk management practices.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Power Delivery team.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and safety-focused culture.
  • Support employee engagement, retention, recruitment, succession planning, and career development initiatives.
  • Champion knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement across teams.


Business Development & Client Relationship Management
  • Act as a seller-doer by developing and maintaining executive-level relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Support account planning, opportunity identification, capture strategies, and proposal development activities.
  • Expand existing client relationships and identify opportunities for cross-selling Stantec's broader capabilities.
  • Collaborate with Sector Leaders, Account Managers, and Business Center Leaders to drive growth within strategic accounts.
  • Participate in industry conferences, professional associations, and client events to strengthen market presence.
  • Develop and execute client engagement strategies that increase repeat business and improve client satisfaction.


Financial & Operational Performance
  • Support achievement of annual revenue, net revenue, backlog, utilization, and profitability targets.
  • Monitor practice performance metrics and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
  • Assist with forecasting workload demand, hiring requirements, and investment priorities.
  • Drive consistency in project execution, resource management, and operational processes.
  • Support development and implementation of growth strategies for priority markets and clients.


Technical & Industry Leadership
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, regulatory changes, utility investment programs, grid modernization initiatives, electrification, renewable integration, and emerging technologies.
  • Provide strategic insights regarding market opportunities and client needs.
  • Elevate Stantec's brand through thought leadership, technical presentations, publications, and industry engagement.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 20+ years of progressive experience in Power Delivery, including transmission, distribution, substations, grid modernization, or related infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidiscipline engineering teams and complex project portfolios.
  • Proven success developing client relationships and winning project work.
  • Strong understanding of utility planning, engineering delivery, project execution, and resource management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Established relationships with investor-owned utilities, public power organizations, cooperative utilities, renewable developers, or data center clients.
  • Experience managing large account programs and strategic client portfolios.
  • Track record of growing backlog, revenue, and client market share.
