Your Opportunity

Stantec's Water Resources sector is seeking a highly motivated Senior Water Resources Infrastructure Leader to join our rapidly growing team in Texas and help deliver and win projects in a multi-disciplinary team environment for dams, levees, floodwalls, and other major water infrastructure. Stantec's Dams and Levees practice pursues and executes flood control, water supply, hydropower, mining, and navigation projects of varying size and complexity across North America and throughout the world. This is a senior-level position that will use their industry knowledge, client relationships and technical expertise to assist in setting the vision and strategic direction of our Dam and Levee practice in Texas and will also be connected to Stantec's experts around the nation. This position can sit in any one of our Texas office locations - Austin, Plano, Houston or San Antonio. The Senior Water Resources Infrastructure Leader is a doer-seller role involving identifying, developing, pursuing and winning opportunities with new and existing clients to grow our business, as well as leadership in the execution and delivery of technically complex dam and levee infrastructure projects from concept through construction. The successful candidate will be someone with strong leadership and communication skills, market knowledge, successful history of client relations and business acumen.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies.
  • Provide project management, leadership, and delivery oversight for on-going dam and levee projects throughout the US, with a focus on Texas.
  • Contribute to the development of a national business strategy for dams and levees with a focus on Texas. Support setting the vision and direction of the Dam and Levee practice.
  • Leading and implementing business development strategies for key clients and strategic dam and levee pursuits.
  • Sustain and grow revenue within the Dams and Levees practice to achieve top line growth.
  • Develop long-lasting partnerships with our clients and understand our client's needs to facilitate full-service offerings.
  • Develop an annual business plan and account management plans for key clients and maintain accountability to the execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare scopes of work, cost and project estimates, job budgets, and schedules for dams and levees projects. Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of dam and levee engineering work.
  • Maintain and enhance our reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals as an outstanding service provider.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of delivery, quality, flexibility, and innovation.
  • Leadership and involvement in related professional societies, including preparation and presentation of papers at professional society conferences and seminars.
  • Coordinate with Stantec leadership and client contacts routinely to explore future opportunities, budget planning, and staff resourcing needs.
  • Talent recruitment and development.
  • Ability to travel as needed to fill role responsibilities.
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Market knowledge and successful project delivery experience in Texas and demonstrated understanding of dam and levee infrastructure projects.
  • Strong business development skills with an entrepreneurial orientation, including experience developing and maintaining productive relationships with clients.
  • Demonstrated business development success in responding to Requests for Qualifications, Requests for Proposals and Statements of Qualifications for dam and levee projects.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex dam and levee infrastructure projects with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.
  • Familiarity with state and federal dam and levee guidance and regulations, such as TCEQ dam safety guidelines, USACE design standards (Engineering Manuals), US Bureau of Reclamation manuals, FERC guidelines, etc.
  • Passion for dam and levee related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with preparation of dams and levees design plans and specifications for bidding and construction purposes.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • Ability to lead project teams, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to conduct effective client and agency presentations and written technical report preparation, as well as effective skills working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Project).

Education and Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with at least 15 years of professional experience in complex dam and levee projects and other related areas; Master's Degree a plus.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer required. Existing Texas PE or ability to obtain a Texas PE within six months of hire required, with ability to obtain reciprocity in multiple states.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
