The OpportunityAs a
Technology Development Advisor, you will responsible for engaging and advising Alberta small and medium size Enterprises (SMEs) in business development and technology development to commercialization activities in their region and throughout the province. The TDA acts as a navigator and connector for SMEs to access Alberta's innovation ecosystem programs and services.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for duties that will include:
Small and Medium size Enterprise Engagement and Support- Identifies Small and Medium size Enterprises (SMEs) that may benefit from Alberta's innovation ecosystem suite of programs; coordinates and connects SMEs with partners, regional agencies and service providers; assists SMEs with assessment of market potential of a particular opportunity; anticipates new market trends and supports SMEs with new opportunities.
- Recommends funding program options to companies (Alberta Innovates funding programs and external partner programs).
- Provides subject matter expertise, advice and business mentoring for Alberta SMEs.
- Captures progress on client-related activities and develops and maintains information tracking for reporting and communication of client progress and successes.
Internal and External Stakeholder Relations and Management- Develops and maintains strategic relationships with external stakeholders, industry colleagues, government representatives and business partners to grow network bases, to build business/service relationships in the technology and innovation ecosystem and promote awareness in the community of Alberta Innovates and other commercialization support entities' capabilities and services.
- Supports Regional Innovation Networks (RINs) and collective Alberta's Innovation Network (AIN), aligning with Alberta Innovates strategic priorities, identifying gaps in the ecosystem, and facilitating connections between stakeholders and clients.
- Develops relationships with internal stakeholders, peers, and colleagues to understand business priorities, collaborate on development initiatives, leverage resources and identify opportunities both internally and externally.
- Works with TDA Managers, TDAs, and other business unit experts to determine how clients are best served throughout their journey.
- Represent Alberta Innovates at speaking engagements and events to promote strategic vision, services, and supports available to SMEs and partners across the province.
- Act as liaison for Alberta Innovates into regions for relationship-building and project opportunities.
Qualifications and SkillsRequired- Undergraduate Degree in Business or related field.
- Minimum 15 years business management experience.
- 3 years of senior management experience.
- Experience implementing new systems, innovations, products and market strategies.
- Ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to interpret corporate strategy and translate it into operational plans.
- Strategic problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Planning and priority management skills.
- Exceptional verbal, written, listening and interpersonal skills to convey concepts and information.
- Financial management and business case development skills.
- People management and coaching skills.
