OverviewBRMi is seeking atechnically minded Technical Solutions Engineer to support the design, analysis, and continuous improvement of Digital Banking applications and platforms. This role is focused on solving complex technical problems and helping ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, maintainable, and sustainable.
The Technical Solutions Engineer works closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Product teams to analyze applications, review technical solutions, identify technical debt, support modernization efforts, and promote sound software engineering practices. This is not a traditional software development role, but it requires the ability to understand and analyze source code and provide technical recommendations.

Responsibilities
- Analyze application source code and architecture to understand existing solutions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Perform technical analysis across applications, APIs, integrations, and services to address complex engineering challenges.
- Recommend improvements to application scalability, resiliency, maintainability, security, and sustainability.
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to review solution designs and implementation approaches.
- Identify technical debt and support the prioritization and implementation of remediation efforts.
- Promote secure coding practices and security-by-design principles throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Evaluate technologies, frameworks, and technical patterns to support application and platform modernization.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Architecture, Security, Product, and other teams to implement engineering standards, reusable patterns, and technical best practices.
- Support cloud adoption, application modernization, and application lifecycle improvements.
- Identify technical and security risks and recommend appropriate remediation strategies.
- Support application and API security activities, including penetration testing remediation, authentication and authorization, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and threat modeling.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, design guidance, playbooks, and knowledge resources.
- Research emerging technologies and technical approaches that may improve application and platform capabilities.
- Communicate technical concepts and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in software engineering, application development, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and modern application architecture.
- Ability to read, understand, and analyze application source code.
- Experience with Java preferred.
- Experience working with APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
- Understanding of application scalability, resiliency, maintainability, security, and performance principles.
- Experience with modern software development and delivery practices, including CI/CD and DevOps.
- Experience identifying technical risks, troubleshooting complex application issues, and recommending solutions.
- Knowledge of secure coding principles and secure software development practices.
- Understanding of application and API security, authentication and authorization, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, SSDLC, and threat modeling.
- Experience evaluating technologies, frameworks, and technical solutions.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Architecture, Security, Product, and other technology teams.
- Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms preferred.
- Experience within banking, financial services, or Digital Banking environments preferred.
- Knowledge of event-driven architecture, enterprise integrations, application modernization, and technical debt management preferred.
