Job Summary
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects from initiation to closure. This includes traditional business projects (e.g., call center initiatives, regulatory requirements, airport operations) and supporting digital initiatives in partnership with Product Managers.
In this role, you will ensure scope, schedule, and resources are managed effectively while providing delivery governance. A significant part of your portfolio will involve contributing to our
Cybersecurity roadmap and providing project management support for
Data Protection, Privacy, and Compliance workstreams, ensuring our technology landscape aligns with modern security and regulatory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Core Project Delivery- Define & Execute: Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with business stakeholders. Manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and risk registers.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitate project ceremonies (kick-offs, updates, retrospectives). Lead SteerCo preparation and reporting, providing metrics and decision-support materials to leadership.
- Governance & Change: Manage changes to scope, schedule, or costs through established governance. Champion change management (training, communications, adoption) to ensure successful rollouts.
Technical & Compliance Support- Cybersecurity & Data Initiatives: Support the coordination and execution of cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection initiatives. Work closely with technical leads to translate cybersecurity, privacy, and data strategies into executable project plans.
- Data Protection Support: Provide project management expertise to workstreams within the Data Protection Program, helping to enable Porter's ongoing compliance with GDPR, CASL, and PIPEDA, including initiatives related to data classification, encryption, data loss prevention (DLP), retention requirements, and privacy controls.
- Regulatory Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure IT initiatives are aligned with global privacy requirements and data residency standards.
- Technology Enablement & Integration: Coordinate the onboarding and implementation of cybersecurity and data protection technologies, including identity and access management, secure access service technologies, DLP capabilities, and security platforms, ensuring alignment with business processes, data governance requirements, and operational readiness.
- Operational Readiness: Facilitate the transition of technical initiatives into steady-state operations, ensuring clear alignment between tool implementation and operational ownership.

Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in Project Management within an IT or technical environment.
- Technical Awareness: Proven experience managing projects involving Cybersecurity, Data Management, security tooling, or compliance initiatives.
- Compliance Literacy: General knowledge of privacy, data protection principles, and security controls, including concepts such as encryption, DLP, data classification, access management, and regulatory requirements (familiarity with GDPR, CASL, or PIPEDA is a significant asset).
- Tools: Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, and/or Smartsheet.
- Communication: Strong leadership skills with the ability to navigate both technical and regulatory landscapes.
Nice-to-have:- Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM).
- Security Frameworks: Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST or ISO 27001.
- Aviation Interest: Experience within the airline or travel industry.
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with cloud-based environments and collaboration ecosystems (e.g., Google Workspace) and cloud technologies (e.g., AWS)
