Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development in the area of consumer electronics or other embedded systems.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role with 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • Experience in mobile connectivity with Android, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Protocols, and Embedded Systems.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • 2 years of experience with WiFi device to device connectivity development (Wi-Fi Aware , NaN).
  • Experience working with embedded operating systems, and designing and implementing OS and application runtime components.
  • Experience with connectivity development and performance improvements for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  • Experience with Android based consumer device development.

The Google Augmented Reality (AR) team is made up of a group of engineers, designers, and research scientists tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing, and prototyping helpful, delightful user experiences. The MicroXR connectivity team manages connectivity features on the Micro XROS platform, including Bluetooth/Wi-Fi stack customizations for streaming and iOS-specific features like iAP2. This team is also responsible for core connectivity protocol, managing connection and pairing flows, transport layer selection, and endpoint management. This team also focuses on optimizing end-to-end transport latency between the glasses and the phone across various traffic and environmental conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the AI Glasses microXR connectivity team for audio and display glasses.
  • Architect, guide, and vet systems designs within the scope of the XR OS connectivity (Bluetooth and Wifi), and write product or system development code to solve ambiguous problems.
  • Communicate, design, and implement decisions effectively through architecture/design documents and code.
  • Mentor and train other team members on architecture and design techniques, coding standards, debugging complex system interactions, and engineering best practices and processes.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices, contributing to the overall efficiency and productivity of the engineering team through code, process enhancements, and software development workflow improvements.
