Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities across interdisciplinary teams to enhance research capabilities.

  • Plan, track, and report on complex technical projects with multiple team dependencies.

  • Identify and resolve dependencies and issues across scientific and engineering projects.

Job Description

Core4ce is seeking a highly experienced Technical Engineer to support the integration and execution of complex scientific, software development, and cloud engineering efforts. The ideal candidate combines strong technical and project management skills with experience working alongside scientific and research teams on experimental projects with a strong software development component.

This role will coordinate across scientists, software developers, and cloud engineers to help transform scientific concepts and algorithms into production-ready code and deployable containers within an AWS enterprise computing environment. The Technical Engineer will help ensure technical activities are properly planned, documented, tracked, and integrated, providing government leadership with the structured information needed to make decisions and execute a complex, multi-faceted technical agenda.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate activities across scientific, software development, and cloud engineering teams to advance research and experimental capabilities.
  • Work with scientists to translate research concepts and algorithms into software requirements, development activities, and deployable capabilities.
  • Facilitate the progression of scientific algorithms from experimental concepts to code, containers, and deployment within AWS.
  • Plan, track, and report progress across complex technical projects involving multiple teams, dependencies, and activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical plans, test plans, training plans, schedules, documentation, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate testing and evaluation activities and assess research progress, results, and technical performance.
  • Identify dependencies, risks, gaps, and issues across scientific, software, and cloud activities and facilitate resolution.
  • Support the transition of successful research efforts and experimental capabilities into operational environments.
  • Coordinate technical exchange meetings, working groups, reviews, and other forums to facilitate collaboration and decision-making.
  • Develop technical briefings, status reports, and decision-support materials for government leadership and technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with organizations and research partners on relevant technical initiatives.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, structured information that enables both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand progress, challenges, and decisions.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline with 13 years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's degree with 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Active TS-SCI with ability to obtain a CI Poly.
  • Experience working with scientific, research, or experimental project teams, particularly projects involving software development.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating technical projects across multiple disciplines or development teams.
  • Understanding of software development and cloud engineering concepts, with the ability to coordinate the transition of algorithms and research into code, containers, and cloud-based environments.
  • Experience with AWS or enterprise cloud environments and developing or coordinating testing and evaluation, training plans, technical documentation, and performance metrics.
  • Experience planning, tracking, and reporting on complex technical projects with multiple dependencies and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present technical material to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and facilitation skills with the ability to bring structure to complex technical efforts.
