THE POSITION

Keyera is seeking a Team Lead, Land Acquisition & Projects to join our land team. This role leads a team supporting capital projects, strategic initiatives, and complex matters across the organization. You will ensure land rights are secured on time, stakeholder relationships are well managed, and complex or high-risk issues are resolved with sound judgment and specialized expertise.

In addition to delivering project work, the team serves as a centre of expertise for complex land matters, including sensitive negotiations, legacy issues, and other high-impact challenges requiring advanced problem-solving and negotiation skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and mentor a team responsible for land acquisition and project support
  • Oversee negotiation of land agreements including easements, rights-of-way, and surface leases
  • Support project development through route selection, stakeholder engagement, and land strategy
  • Ensure land deliverables align with project schedules and construction timelines
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid project delays
  • Coordinate with internal teams including Project Management, Engineering, Legal, and Regulatory
  • Support regulatory applications and landowner consultation programs
  • Manage project land budgets, forecasts, and contractor performance
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to process improvements, documentation standards, and operational efficiencies within the Land team
  • Collaborate across departments to support safe, compliant, and efficient project execution


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum ten (10) years of Surface Land experience, preferably working in Capital projects and acquisitions
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring a team
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience supporting large-scale capital projects
  • Knowledge of applicable land and regulatory frameworks (Canada and/or U.S. is a strong asset)
  • Experience with land management systems (e.g., Pandell LandWorks) is considered an asset
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Problem-solving and risk management
  • Collaborative and cross-functional mindset
  • Valid Alberta Land Agents License is considered an asset
