Job Title: Systems Administrator - Pro-Watch & Genetec
Work Location: 100% Onsite (5 days per week) - New York, NY
Pay Range: $43-$51/hr (W2), depending on experience
Duration: 12+ months

Position Overview

Our Fortune 500 client located in New York, NY is seeking an experienced Senior Physical Security Systems Administrator to administer, support, and optimize enterprise physical security, access control, and video surveillance infrastructure.

This is a hands-on technical role responsible for critical platforms including Honeywell Pro-Watch Access Control, Genetec Security Center, enterprise IP camera/video surveillance systems, Microsoft SQL Server databases, Windows Server infrastructure, and virtual machines. The individual will monitor system health and availability, troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues, perform upgrades and patching, support backup and disaster recovery, and help ensure the continuous operation of business-critical physical security systems.

The ideal candidate combines strong Windows systems administration experience with specialized knowledge of physical security technologies and is comfortable collaborating with cybersecurity, networking, facilities, operations, and end users in a critical infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities

Physical Security & Access Control Systems

  • Administer, maintain, and support Honeywell Pro-Watch Access Control Systems, including servers and associated security hardware.
  • Administer and support Genetec Security Center, video management systems, and camera integrations.
  • Support card access systems, badge management, door controllers, and related physical security integrations.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for enterprise IP cameras, video encoders, NVRs, DVRs, video recording platforms, and storage systems.
  • Troubleshoot access control, video surveillance, camera, application, server, and integration issues.
  • Coordinate hardware, software, and firmware upgrades across physical security platforms.
Windows Server & Infrastructure Administration

  • Administer and support enterprise Windows Server environments and related infrastructure.
  • Manage operating systems, services, user administration, file systems, application software, and system configurations.
  • Support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and domain services.
  • Manage and support virtual machines and associated server infrastructure.
  • Perform Windows patching and lifecycle management using Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and related technologies.
  • Support server hardware and RAID storage configurations.
  • Troubleshoot server, operating system, hardware, application, and infrastructure issues.
SQL Server & Database Support

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, including databases supporting enterprise security applications.
  • Support database backup, recovery, availability, and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor SQL Server health and performance and troubleshoot database-related issues.
  • Develop and modify SQL queries as needed for troubleshooting, administration, reporting, and system support.
  • Support optimization and ongoing maintenance of databases associated with critical security platforms.
Monitoring, Availability & Disaster Recovery

  • Actively monitor the physical security and supporting server infrastructure for health, performance, capacity, availability, and operational issues.
  • Proactively identify and troubleshoot server and application problems before they impact critical services.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and support disaster recovery and business continuity procedures for critical physical security systems.
  • Participate in recovery testing and ensure appropriate system documentation is maintained.
Networking & Cybersecurity

  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues involving DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and IP networking.
  • Apply security best practices involving ACLs, authentication, authorization, encryption, and system hardening.
  • Perform security patching, firmware updates, vulnerability remediation, and configuration changes.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and networking teams to maintain secure and reliable physical security infrastructure.
Automation, Documentation & Operational Support

  • Develop and modify PowerShell scripts and other automation where appropriate to improve system administration and support.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, operating procedures, configuration information, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Partner with facilities, operations, networking, cybersecurity, and other technical teams to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Provide responsive technical support with a strong focus on customer and operational outcomes.
  • Participate in after-hours and on-call support for critical systems.
Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of IT experience supporting enterprise server environments, infrastructure, or critical technology systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting operating systems, virtual machines, application software, and server infrastructure.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and enterprise patch management.
  • Strong knowledge of server hardware and RAID storage.
  • Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Strong experience actively monitoring infrastructure and troubleshooting complex server and application issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including administration, maintenance, backup/recovery, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking including DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, VLANs, and IP networking.
  • Understanding of infrastructure security, including authentication, authorization, ACLs, encryption, vulnerability remediation, and system hardening.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience administering Honeywell Pro-Watch Access Control Systems.
  • Hands-on experience administering Genetec Security Center.
  • Experience supporting enterprise IP cameras, NVR/DVR systems, video management platforms, and video storage infrastructure.
  • Experience with badge-management systems, door controllers, and physical access-control integrations.
  • Experience supporting physical security, surveillance, operational technology, or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Experience administering Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Ability to develop, interpret, and modify SQL queries and scripts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Additional Requirements

  • Ability to provide after-hours and on-call support for critical physical security systems.
  • Willingness to work overtime or flexible hours for scheduled maintenance and emergency response when required.
  • Ability to travel to company locations as necessary.
  • Ability to lift and transport server, networking, and physical security equipment when required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a NERC CIP Personnel Risk Assessment background check.
  • This position is 100% onsite, five days per week.
Preferred Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior Physical Security Systems Administrator who can operate effectively across physical security applications and the underlying IT infrastructure that supports them. They are comfortable moving between Pro-Watch, Genetec, IP surveillance systems, Windows Server, virtual machines, SQL Server, WSUS, RAID, networking, backup/recovery, and system monitoring while troubleshooting complex production issues.
