Job Description

Applies expert knowledge of the Exchange IBM z/OS (mainframe) computing platform management process to support the operating system software, hardware and system support software for the z/OS portfolio. The tasks associated with this support may include, but are not limited to, installing, upgrading, configuring, monitoring, tuning and maintaining z/OS operating systems. Schedules new installs and upgrades to provide the best support for the z/OS community. Ensures internal controls are adhered to in relation to compliance requirements, audit procedures, and security and by following industry best practices and Exchange policies. Monitors and tunes the operating software, supporting software and hardware to achieve optimum performance. Develops and maintains standard operating procedures and documentation, provides project leadership for the planning and execution of major z/OS projects, and provides guidance and advice to developers and users concerning the z/OS platform capabilities, software, hardware, and procedures. Ensures data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions. Defines disaster recovery requirements and plans and delivers a disaster recovery solution for the z/OS platform. Coordinates with business units, the project management office (PMO), outside entities and IT staff to confirm compliance and risk mitigation has been met. Serves as third level support by identifying, evaluating, and troubleshooting non-routine events and incidents with z/OS computing platform. Responds to telephone calls and email requests for z/OS management processes. Safeguards physical access to Exchange restricted data, processes and services.

Technical (Preferred/Required Skills/Systems):
  • ZOS/MVS/JES MAINFRAME - Required
  • A subject matter expert for DB2 software upgrades, DB2 day to day supportfor application assistance for problem determination and resolution, DB2performance and tuning, and DB2 disaster recovery testing expertise are allminimum requirements.


Job Qualifications

Five years of recent (within the last 6 years) hands-on experience in system administration and software installation. Experience in all the following areas: software installation, performance tuning, trouble shooting, configuration of SAN connected storage and system hardware configuration. Experience in creating virtual environments.

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in the last five years of hands-on experience in system administration and software installation. Experience in all the following areas: software installation, performance tuning, trouble shooting, configuration of SAN connected storage and system hardware configuration. Experience in creating virtual environments.

Major Duties

Analyzes system problems and implements solutions.
Installs, customizes and maintains computer software.
Provides technical support to junior staff and operations.
Represents the work section in high level strategy meetings.
Researchs and recommends technical solutions and innovations to management.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Challenges

24x7 work environment supporting Exchange operations, which requires either shift work, on call, and/or after hours project work and may include holidays, and weekends
IT environment is constantly changing demanding quick solutions and evolving skills
IT position located at HQ
IT position - there may be some TDY associated with this IT work
