Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Supply Chain Master Planner plays a critical role in developing, maintaining, and executing supply plans that balance customer demand with manufacturing capacity, material availability, inventory levels, and interplant requirements. This position supports key planning functions including demand management, order dating, fiber and interplant supply planning, capacity planning, and production readiness. Working closely with Manufacturing, Demand Management, Customer Service, Materials, Logistics, and other Supply Chain teams, the Master Planner ensures customer requirements are met through realistic, achievable, and efficient supply plans. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with strong decision-making skills, the ability to manage competing priorities, and a proven track record of success in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain master supply plans that align customer demand with manufacturing capacity, material availability, inventory targets, and business priorities.
  • Establish realistic production schedules, product availability dates, and customer commitments based on capacity, material, and supply conditions.
  • Perform capacity and supply analyses to identify constraints, risks, shortages, and recovery opportunities, while supporting effective decision-making and plan execution.
  • Manage fiber, material, and interplant supply requirements to ensure production readiness and maintain alignment across the manufacturing network.
  • Monitor inventory, work-in-process, planned supply, and SAP planning signals to maintain accurate supply-demand balances and support operational performance.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Plant Planning, Demand Management, Product Line Management, Customer Service, and other Supply Chain partners to align priorities and execute supply plans.
  • Communicate supply risks, capacity limitations, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders while driving continuous improvement in planning performance, inventory optimization, and supply chain effectiveness.
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be assigned as needed.


Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in supply chain planning, master planning, production planning, materials planning, demand planning, planning manufacturing operations, or inventory management
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate multiple supply chain variables and establish realistic customer commitment dates
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to maintain accurate planning data within ERP systems
  • Experience managing multiple priorities working cross functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment


Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Experience using SAP and related planning tools in a manufacturing or supply chain environment
  • 1+ years' experience with master production scheduling (MPS), MRP, capacity planning, demand management, and production planning processes
  • Experience with interplant, intercompany, fiber, raw material, or component supply planning across multiple manufacturing locations
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing capacity, inventory, work-in-process, and supply constraints to support customer commitments and production readiness.
  • APICS CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certification; experience with Power BI, SQL, or other analytics and reporting tools

The range for this position is $71,930.00 - $98,904.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
