The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for maintaining the public trust via robust, consistent, proactive and responsive engagement between CBP and domestic and foreign publics. You will be responsible for planning, executing and evaluating the effectiveness of information and communication programs in furthering CBP goals and objectives. In this position you will be performing the below duties
- Managing social media channels to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging content that supports organizational priorities and strengthens public understanding.
- Advising leadership on communication strategies by analyzing public attitudes and reactions to key initiatives, achievements, and events.
- Coordinating the development and implementation of policies and procedures for effective social media engagement by organizational leaders.
- Supervising a multidisciplinary team by setting goals, assigning tasks, and providing coaching to ensure high-quality performance and professional growth.

QualificationsExperience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Leading a team in planning and executing organization-wide social media campaigns, ensuring consistent messaging and effective public engagement across multiple platforms.
- Advising senior leadership on communication strategies by analyzing public feedback and monitoring reactions to organizational initiatives, policies, and events.
- Developing and implementing social media content strategies using platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram, resulting in increased audience engagement and improved public understanding of key programs.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of digital communication efforts by tracking analytics and preparing reports, using findings to adjust strategies and maximize outreach impact.
- Training and supervising staff, setting performance goals, assigning tasks, and providing feedback to support professional development and achieve team objectives.

Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years. Additional informationSupervisory Training: All newly appointed, first-time CBP Supervisors are required to complete mandatory training. The training will be scheduled by the Office of Training and Development within the first 90 days of appointment. The duration of the training will include SLT three (3) weeks of in-residence training in Harpers Ferry, WV. Note: This training may be waived if previously completed
Supervisory Probationary Period: You may be required to serve an 18-month probationary period upon appointment and complete a supervisory training course within 12 months of assignment.
