Strategic Sourcing

This role is for an experienced Facilities and Construction Category Manager to be based at Western Digital US sites (San Jose or Fremont).
  1. Develop Facilities and Construction category strategies for local operations aligned with global category management strategies, including Sustainability related sourcing initiatives.
  2. Partner with business stakeholders to identify and qualify capable suppliers; initiate and manage Requests for Proposals and Quotations (RFPs/RFQs); provide guidance on contract terms and conditions
  3. Lead cross-functional teams through supplier selection processes, applying rigorous scoring criteria to evaluate proposals in accordance with company policies
  4. Negotiate Procurement agreements, including Master Agreements, Statements of Work, and Change Orders, balancing business objectives, legal requirements, and cost considerations
  5. Analyze proposals for Facilities services and equipment supporting factory, research and development, and other business functions
  6. Conduct total cost analysis, support ROI assessments, perform price and rate benchmarking, and negotiate favorable terms to maximize Western Digital's purchasing leverage
  7. Provide contract management expertise for the category across business units
  8. Evaluate stakeholders requests and validate competitive market conditions


Category Management
  1. Develop, refine, and implement category strategies and tactics that optimize procurement value for Facilities and Construction services
  2. Establish subject matter expertise on Facilities and Construction services procurement, including industry trends, benchmarking data, and best practices
  3. Lead cross-functional meetings with business partners and develop communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed on procurement processes, supplier strategies, and policies


Supplier Management
  1. Manage supplier relationships with emphasis on supply risk, contract risk, and cost management
  2. Resolve supplier issues and mediate customer-supplier contract disputes as needed
  3. Conduct supplier performance reviews with vendors to assess performance and drive mutually agreed improvement initiatives
  4. Support reporting requirements, including supplier scorecards and performance analytics


Contract Management
  1. Evaluate processes and recommend improvements to standardize contract and sourcing lifecycle management and systems
  2. Ensure negotiated pricing and deliverables are accurately reflected in contracts; coordinate proposal comparisons and final contract terms
  3. Manage contract execution, retention, and renewal through electronic signature processes
  4. Provide timely updates, support quarterly management reporting, and address issues promptly


Qualifications

Education
  1. Bachelor/Masters degree required with 0-5+ years of experience in Facilities and Construction services strategic sourcing or related categories.
  2. Degree in Business or Engineering preferred
  3. Other professional certifications like PMP, CPSM, CPCM will be desired.


Specific Knowledge
  1. Demonstrated skills in negotiating and formulating Facilities and Construction services contracts, understanding cost models and various price structures, management of contractual, IP and law and risk management.
  2. Experience in Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) contract execution will be an added advantage.
  3. Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills required
  4. Ability to work well in a high-pace dynamic environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and ensure task completion and deadlines are met as required
  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  6. Subject matter expertise in sourcing & contracting tools (Oracle and other supply chain tools)
  7. Supplier Management (supplier report card) and KPI management
  8. Solid stakeholder management, especially in multinational company and willingness to support global initiatives as may be required.


Communication Skills:
  1. Communicate well in English both in verbal and written form
  2. Excellent team facilitation and presentation skills required
  3. Ability to present to all level of management / stakeholders and articulate strategies and performance metrics

  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
  • If your position is non-exempt, you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws. You may also be eligible for shift differential pay, depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
  • You will be eligible to be considered for bonuses under either WD's Short Term Incentive Plan ("STI Plan") or the Sales Incentive Plan ("SIP") which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance, depending on your role and your performance. You may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan.
