As a Staff Software Engineer, Core Platform, you will be a key technical leader driving the design, architecture, and evolution of FloQast's foundational backend systems. You are a "systems thinker" who will own the development of critical platform capabilities, including our end-to-end data platforms, core services, and robust authentication/authorization frameworks. Working in a high-growth environment, you will define the standards for reliability, security, and scalability, enabling product engineering teams to build seamlessly on top of a powerful, resilient backend foundation.

What You'll Do

• Core Platform Architecture: Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, distributed core services and backend platform components using TypeScript and modern cloud-native technologies.
• Orchestration & Messaging: Architect and maintain reliable asynchronous architectures, utilizing event streaming (Kafka) and complex workflow orchestration (Temporal) to power critical business logic.
• Platform Security Systems: Own the evolution and scaling of our enterprise-grade authentication and authorization frameworks, ensuring seamless and secure data access layers.
• End-to-End Data Engineering: Design, optimize, and scale complex backend data platforms and document-based storage systems (MongoDB) to handle high-throughput workloads.
• Technical Leadership & Standards: Establish clean coding patterns, robust architectural standards, and best practices for the backend engineering organization while mentoring junior and senior engineers.
• Cross-Functional Influence: Partner closely with Product, Security, and Core Infrastructure teams to align platform capabilities with long-term product roadmaps and strategic company goals.

What You'll Bring

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a deep, specialized focus on "pure" backend engineering, distributed systems, and core platform development.
• Expert-level proficiency with TypeScript alongside deep production experience within our modern ecosystem stack (Temporal, Kafka, MongoDB, and AWS).
• Startup DNA: Proven experience delivering high-impact architectural solutions within fast-paced, high-growth Series B or Series C environments.
• Industry Domain Knowledge: A strong background in the B2B SaaS space, with a track record of building platforms that scale alongside growing enterprise customer demands.
• System Design Expertise: Demonstrated success building complex, end-to-end data pipelines, identity/access systems, and high-availability core services from scratch.
• Clear Engineering Focus: A profile centered squarely on core backend application architecture rather than frontend/full-stack development or infrastructure-heavy/DevOps operations.
• Strategic Communicator: An effective collaborator who can easily break down complex architectural technical concepts and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This job posting is for our Staff Software Engineer, the base pay range for this position is $164,000 - $246,000. Compensation is not limited to base salary.
