About the role:- The Becton Dickinson Software Technology Solutions Division (STS) seeks a hands-on Staff Engineer passionate about building and maintaining platfrom infrastructure and products that integrates EHR and cloud applications.
- This position requires an enthusiastic technical leader to work across the entire stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable measurable business growth.
- Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale and maintain high standards for code quality and application design.
- Work with agile development methodologies, adhering to best practices and pursuing continued learning opportunities.
- This highly collaborative position will partner with and advise multiple teams by guiding the creation and consumption of services.
Responsibilities:- Participate in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, deployment, and production support.
- Architect and guide building end-to-end systems optimized for performance, scale, and reliability.
- Work primarily in Go, Java, React, and JavaScript.
- Develop platform SDKs and RESTful APIs
- Plan and lead other engineers to deliver features in a fast paced environment
- Develop, maintain CDK scripts to support provisioning of infrastructure
- Implement CI/CD pipeline for effficent delivery and updates
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, API guides and technical guides
- Understand user experience and product strategy. Ensure the entire stack is designed and built with a customer-centric mindset and able to make appropriate design trade offs.
- Clear communication and written skills to collaborate and influence across teams.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS CDK or Terraform, ensuring reusable constructs, consistent deployment pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code best practices across engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain internal SDKs and developer tooling that abstract AWS service integrations, enabling teams to consume platform capabilities (e.g., S3, Lambda, RDS, SQS) reliably and efficiently.
- Own the reliability, security, and observability of AWS environments by managing IAM policies, VPC configurations, CloudWatch monitoring, and cost optimization across multi-account or multi-region setups.
Required skills and qualifications:- At least 7+ years of experience in building large-scale software applications in healthcare or related field
- At least 2 years experience in Terraform and/or CDK
- Must have experience running and supporting production systems on public cloud such as AWS - 2-3yrs.
- Experience in leading engineers, planning and execution of deliverables
- Experience in designing and building services with AWS is a must.
- Experienced in multiple Cloud PaaS persistence technologies and in-depth knowledge of cloud-based offerings and orchestration technologies (AWS Step Function, Airflow, etc.)
- Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs
- Experience in Java, React, and JavaScript
- Must have good coding practices, including well-documented code
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legal and regulatory requirements, such as SOX, PCI, HIPAA, Data Protection is a plus
- Excellent debugging and optimization skills
- Experience in unit/integration testing
Education and experience required- Bachelor's or master's preferred in computer science, Information Systems, or an engineering field or proven experience.
- 7+ years of related experience
