Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of software development experience, with 7 years specializing in large-scale distributed systems, infrastructure (compute/storage), and production environments using Kubernetes.
  • 8 years of experience in software development, with a focus on building distributed high throughput and latency sensitive systems.
  • 5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 5 years of experience testing and launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience in designing and building high-performance backend systems. Proven track record of solving ambiguous problems that span across multiple components/domains.

Responsibilities
  • Apply concepts of Interleaving and Placement to scale distributed changelogs, guarantee data integrity, and build resilient, fault-tolerant replication and recovery mechanisms that proactively manage hardware failures and network partitions, enforcing a 0 data loss guarantee across Terabytes/Petabytes of state.
  • Collaborate with dependent serving systems and product teams to safely deprecate legacy architectures, manage quotas, and ensure our storage layer manages cascading traffic spikes.
  • Define the multi-year technical roadmap for the storage infrastructure, anticipating scale limits and pioneering next-generation architectures before current systems break.
  • Serve as a technical multiplexer and mentor, guide executive engineers through distributed systems design reviews, and establish standards for excellence.
