The Role

The Sr. Software Quality Operations Engineer drives end-to-end software quality operations across vehicle programs. This role ensures timely issue resolution, effective cross-functional coordination, executive visibility, and continuous improvement of software quality performance throughout the software development and release lifecycle.

The successful candidate will serve as a central point of coordination for software quality activities, leading issue triage, quality governance, risk reporting, and release-readiness tracking. This role requires strong knowledge of software development and validation processes, disciplined program execution, and the ability to influence teams across Engineering, Validation, Program Management, Product Quality, Service, Manufacturing, and Functional Safety.

What You'll Own

Software Quality Operations and Issue Management
  • Lead software issue triage, prioritization, and tracking across multiple vehicle domains, programs, and software releases.
  • Drive cross-functional coordination to support timely root-cause analysis, corrective actions, validation, and issue closure.
  • Own critical issue review processes and provide clear visibility into software quality risks, blockers, dependencies, and resolution status.
  • Monitor defect backlog health, issue aging, closure performance, and recurring quality concerns requiring escalation or systemic corrective action.
  • Facilitate software quality review meetings and ensure clear ownership, accountability, decisions, and follow-through for open issues.

Quality Governance, Metrics, and Executive Reporting
  • Develop and maintain software quality dashboards, KPIs, issue-aging reports, and executive-level status reporting.
  • Drive reporting and governance processes that improve organizational visibility, data integrity, prioritization, and decision-making.
  • Present software quality status, risks, trends, and recommendations to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.
  • Analyze quality data to identify recurring failure patterns, program risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Drive consistent quality governance practices across vehicle programs and software domains.

Software Release Readiness
  • Support software release-readiness assessments by tracking open risks, critical defects, validation status, dependencies, and closure plans.
  • Partner with Engineering, Validation, Program Management, Product Quality, Service, Manufacturing, Functional Safety, and Cybersecurity teams to drive issue resolution and readiness alignment.
  • Monitor release criteria and provide fact-based quality status to support informed release decisions.
  • Escalate software quality risks that may affect customer experience, vehicle performance, compliance, launch timing, or release readiness.

Continuous Improvement
  • Identify quality process gaps and drive improvements to issue management, reporting, governance, and escalation workflows.
  • Promote lessons learned, repeat-issue prevention, and disciplined corrective-action follow-through.
  • Advance the use of data analytics and reporting automation to improve software quality insight and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, urgency, accountability, and continuous improvement across software development organizations.

What Success Looks Like
  • Critical software issues are resolved efficiently with clear ownership and accountability.
  • Root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and validation activities are completed on time and tracked through closure.
  • Leadership has accurate, timely visibility into software quality metrics, risks, blockers, and program health.
  • Quality dashboards and KPIs provide actionable insights across programs and software domains.
  • Escalations are managed effectively and quality risks are addressed before customer impact whenever possible.
