Full Job Description
As an Interior Designer, you will work on the interior renovation of projects with varying levels of complexity from design through construction and installation. You will work with and receive mentorship from senior members in the department.

About this position: Premier is seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect / Project Manager to lead complex, large-scale renovation, adaptive reuse, and ground-up architectural projects from initial planning through construction. This position will serve as the day-to-day project leader, managing multidisciplinary teams of architects, interior designers, consultants, and other project stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have experience with renovation and adaptive reuse projects - particularly office-to-hotel and office-to-residential conversions - and an understanding of historic rehabilitation and historic tax credit requirements; this experience is a plus but is not required. This individual must be an effective project manager, technical architect, team leader, and client communicator who can navigate complex existing-building conditions while maintaining project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and design intent.

The preferred location for this position is Dallas; however, qualified remote candidates will also be considered. Dallas employees follow a hybrid schedule, working in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote work permitted on Monday and Friday. Fully remote employees must be able to collaborate effectively across project teams and travel as needed for client meetings, site assessments, project coordination, and construction observations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership and Management

  • Lead large and technically complex projects from feasibility and concept design through construction administration and project closeout.
  • Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, deliverables, staffing requirements, and internal project budgets.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings, document decisions, assign action items, and maintain accountability across the project team.
  • Identify risks, unresolved decisions, scope gaps, and coordination issues early and develop practical strategies for resolution.
  • Work closely with firm leadership to monitor project performance, staffing, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage multiple projects or project phases concurrently when required.

Project Delivery and Technical Leadership

  • Renovation, adaptive reuse, and historic rehabilitation: Lead the evaluation and planning of complex existing-building projects, coordinating office-to-hotel or office-to-residential conversion strategies and historic preservation requirements when applicable.
  • Design and technical documentation: Direct coordinated architectural documents from concept design through construction documents, including code analysis, technical detailing, constructability, and compliance reviews.
  • Consultant coordination: Lead multidisciplinary consultant teams, establish scope and schedule expectations, and resolve conflicts, missing information, and coordination gaps before documents are issued.
  • Team leadership and mentorship: Direct architects, designers, interior designers, BIM professionals, and emerging professionals while assigning work, reviewing deliverables, and supporting staff development.
  • Construction administration: Oversee site observations, RFIs, submittals, change reviews, construction meetings, issue resolution, and project closeout.
  • Quality assurance and risk management: Implement milestone reviews and quality-control procedures while monitoring scope, technical quality, regulatory requirements, and potential additional services.
  • Technology and innovation: Use Revit, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, and AI-enabled tools proficiently and responsibly to improve coordination, documentation, quality control, research, and project communication.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university.
  • Approximately 12 or more years of progressively responsible architectural experience.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, accessibility requirements, life-safety principles, construction methods, and existing-building conditions.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled applications and their responsible use in architectural practice.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, leadership, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and make well-reasoned decisions in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Ability to travel periodically for client meetings, building assessments, project coordination, and construction observations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current architectural license in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • NCARB certification or the ability to obtain reciprocal licensure.
  • Hospitality and multifamily project experience.
  • Experience with high-rise buildings, mixed-use developments, and complex occupancy conversions.
  • Experience coordinating hotel brand standards and hospitality operations.
  • Familiarity with the International Existing Building Code and alternative compliance approaches for existing buildings.
  • Experience working with the National Park Service, State Historic Preservation Offices, historic preservation consultants, and local preservation authorities.

Attributes for Success

The successful candidate will combine strong technical judgment with practical project-management skills, take ownership of project outcomes, coordinate stakeholders effectively, mentor team members, and uphold Premier's standards for design, documentation, client service, and professionalism.
