Position Overview The Future AI Experiences Group at Autodesk Research is seeking an experienced research scientist to work on the latest research topics at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence. This broad topic area could encompass research on: how to interact with generative AI systems; how to collect the right data to make AI systems successful in design software; develop interaction techniques to address the unique challenges of generative solutions in a precision design environment; and imagining how design will be different with future technological breakthroughs.
You will report to: Sr. Principal Research Scientist, Manager
Location: Toronto, Canada preferred, but open to hybrid at nearest office location.
Responsibilities- Conceive, plan, develop, and implement scientific research projects to advance scientific knowledge in business-relevant areas
- You will publish papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals/conferences
- Supervise research topics/programs
- Present research findings at conferences and participate in research collaborations with external research institutes and universities
- You will communicate and promote the use of research findings throughout Autodesk
- Consult with product teams on the implementation of research findings into products
- Generate intellectual property such as patents and trade-secrets from research findings
- You will manage and coordinate projects as they move from research prototype to shipping products or services
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or other relevant disciplines, ideally on the topic of Human-Computer Interaction, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely-related area
- 15-25 years experience of HCI research fundamentals, including experience designing and evaluating novel interfaces and technologies
- Demonstrated experience working with AI technologies, and developing novel solutions using them
- History of publications in HCI or related fields (e.g., ACM CHI, ACM UIST, ACM IUI, IEEE VIS, AAAI, or similar)
- Learn new technologies and adapt to new situations
- Ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative studies to evaluate concepts, designs, and systems
- Ability to work with people from many different disciplines (design, development, etc.)
- A demonstrated track record of recognized research results in leading conferences and publication venues (e.g., ACM CHI, ACM UIST, ACM IUI, IEEE VIS, AAAI, or similar)
Salary transparencySalary is one part of Autodesk's competitive compensation package. For Canada based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $128,200 and $244,200. Offers are based on the candidate's experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
