About the Team
The Office of the CTO serves as a strategic and operational partner to the Chief Technology Officer, enabling the simultaneous leadership of a global technical organization and active governance of the Workday enterprise. Operating across three pillars—Platform, Enterprise and Market, and Strategic Initiatives—the team drives alignment and execution across the Platform Organization and with cross-functional stakeholders. By institutionalizing support for operational excellence, strategic initiatives, and market influence, the office maximizes the CTO’s leverage and accelerates enterprise-wide impact.
About the Role
The Senior Principal, Product Strategist will partner across Workday to define the Platform Organization’s product strategy and guide product investment and corporate development decisions in support of that strategy. This role reports to the Vice President, Platform Strategy and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Partner across Workday to define, evangelize and maintain a unified product strategy for the Platform Organization
Identify and assess new market, customer and business opportunities to inform strategic decision-making
Support the evaluation of partnerships and corporate development opportunities, including leading product workstreams for M&A from initial strategic assessment and diligence through post-close integration
Serve as a trusted advisor to Platform leadership on product vision, investment priorities and emerging trends
Contribute to strategic and financial planning, ensuring product roadmaps are aligned to the Platform Organization’s objectives and operating model
Partner with Platform leadership, Finance and other stakeholders to define and monitor investment principles and success metrics, ensuring resources are aligned with strategic priorities and business impact
Represent the Platform organization in strategic cross-functional forums to ensure alignment with Workday’s overall strategy and priorities
About You
Basic Qualifications
15+ years of experience in product strategy, product management or engineering leadership within an enterprise product or platform organization
Demonstrated experience defining and executing multi-year enterprise product or platform strategies at global scale
Experience evaluating and executing M&A and managing strategic partnerships to support growth
Strong technical fluency, with the ability to engage deeply with engineering teams on platform architecture and connect technical decisions to product strategy and investment priorities
Other Qualifications
Proven strategic advisor and trusted partner to senior executives
Ability to build strong relationships, influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
High business acumen and a passion for using data and analytics to drive product and business performance
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for a global audience
Experience bringing new product offerings to market, including defining pricing, packaging and
go-to-market strategies
Track record of mentoring, coaching and developing product management talent
Experience driving both strategic and technical initiatives from inception to measurable outcomes
Intellectual curiosity, adaptability and a deep understanding of how business strategy and technical execution intersect

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location.
