Location: Hershey, PA How will you fit in the big picture?The Senior Manager, Packtypes (Chocolate) role, leads the development and execution of Price-Pack Architecture strategies across the U.S. Chocolate portfolio. This role is responsible for identifying growth opportunities, optimizing portfolio architecture, and developing packtype solutions that meet consumer, shopper, customer, and business needs. The position serves as the Packtype Strategy lead for the Chocolate business, driving strategic initiatives from ideation through execution while partnering across Marketing, Commercial, Sales, Insights, Finance, Operations, R&D, and Supply Chain teams. The role provides strategic guidance on portfolio decisions, translates consumer and commercial insights into actionable recommendations, and ensures alignment between business objectives, consumer needs, and profitable growth. Additionally, this position leads and develops team members while advancing Packtype Strategy capabilities across the organization
What will you do?Packtype Strategy Development- Develop and recommend Price-Pack Architecture strategies for the Chocolate portfolio.
- Identify whitespace opportunities through analysis of consumer, shopper, customer, and marketplace insights.
- Support portfolio optimization through assortment, package format, merchandising, and value architecture recommendations.
- Develop strategic recommendations that balance consumer needs with commercial and financial objectives.
- Monitor category, consumer, and marketplace trends to inform long-term portfolio strategy and growth opportunities.
Business Leadership & Portfolio Strategy- Lead strategic packtype initiatives through the stage-gate process for key Chocolate growth platforms.
- Build business cases and recommendations for innovation, renovation, and optimization opportunities.
- Monitor portfolio performance and recommend actions to drive growth, profitability, and category performance.
- Support annual business planning and long-range strategic planning processes.
- Translate complex data, insights, and business trends into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution- Partner with Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Insights, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D teams to advance strategic initiatives and guide key packtype decisions.
- Facilitate alignment across stakeholders and drive decision-making on complex projects.
- Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver initiatives on time and against business objectives.
- Represent Packtype Strategy in business planning forums and enterprise-wide discussions.
- Ensure successful execution of approved initiatives while managing dependencies, risks, and organizational alignment.
Consumer & Customer Focus- Translate consumer and shopper insights into actionable packtype recommendations.
- Partner with customers and customer-facing teams to identify scalable growth opportunities.
- Ensure strategies address evolving consumer needs while delivering strong commercial outcomes.
- Incorporate consumer, customer, and competitive insights into portfolio and packtype strategy decisions.
Capability Building & Team Leadership- Lead and develop team members through coaching, project leadership, and performance management.
- Share Packtype Strategy best practices, tools, and processes across the organization.
- Contribute to organizational capability building and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify innovative approaches and strategic opportunities that enhance portfolio performance and marketing effectiveness.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across teams and functions
Minimum Education & RequirementsExperience- 7+ years experience in Growth Marketing, Commercial Strategy, Category Management, Packtype Strategy, Innovation, or related fields.
- Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and influencing outcomes across multiple stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and business planning skill
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Education- Bachelors required. MBA preferred
