About the Team

The Enterprise Identity team sits within Workday's Cyber Security function as a key part of Enterprise Security. We are dedicated to delivering secure identity and access management, lifecycle management, governance and administration, and privileged access management to the entire Workday organization.

We architect business processes, align enterprise tooling, document processes and procedures, and partner with peer organizations to keep Workday secure. Our team collaborates with key partners across the company, including Business Technology (BT), Product & Technology, Legal & Compliance, Internal Audit, and other Security organizations. In the year ahead, we are focused on advancing Identity Governance and driving Zero Standing Privileges initiatives that will help shape the future of identity security at Workday.

We are a team that takes our mission seriously while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. If you are passionate about identity security and want to make a meaningful impact at a global technology leader, this is the team for you!

About the Role

As a Sr. IAM Cybersecurity Engineer on the Enterprise Identity team, you will play a key role in designing and supporting the security of employee and client identities for a global technology leader. This role is essential to ensuring Workday's identity security program remains comprehensive and forward-looking across IAM, ILM, IGA, and PAM.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Working with key business leaders and partners to understand business needs and anticipate threats against the organization

  • Assisting with cybersecurity risk identification, assessment, and evaluation of projects across the enterprise, collaborating with partners to drive informed decision-making

  • Leading and helping maintain a comprehensive Identity program (IAM, ILM, IGA, and PAM), architecting Zero Standing Privileges (ZSP) frameworks and dynamic, contextual-based authorization models

  • Championing the shift toward Zero Standing Privileges (ZSP) by implementing Just-In-Time (JIT) provisioning, risk-adaptive policies, and contextual access evaluations to eliminate persistent elevated access

  • Supporting security and access control processes, elements, and workflows that align enterprise security architecture frameworks and standards with overall business and security strategy

  • Collaborating with product owners to develop secure business requirements, support security architecture, and integrate contextual authorization into enterprise identity and governance platforms

  • Leading the ongoing evaluation and development of security policies and procedures, driving revisions for modern identity and least-privilege approaches as needed

  • Maintaining responsibility for identity cybersecurity across multiple departments organization-wide, requiring interaction at all levels of staff and management

About You

  • 7+ years (with a BS degree) or 4+ years (with an MS degree) of related IT or information security experience

  • Proficiency across areas of information security, with familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements

  • Experience with Okta (IAM, Workflows, etc.)

  • Experience with related IGA tooling (e.g., Okta Identity Governance, SailPoint)

  • Experience with identity lifecycle management concepts (source of truth)

Other Qualifications

This includes understanding encryption, authentication, intrusion detection, and the ability to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities within identity platforms.

  • Threat and Vulnerability Management: Familiarity with identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks and weaknesses in identity security infrastructure, including understanding threat landscapes, conducting assessments, and staying current with the latest cybersecurity trends and threats.

  • Solid understanding of and experience with Zero Trust and Identity concepts and how they can improve security for all areas of identity management

  • Broad knowledge of identity access management technologies such as MFA, SSO, SAML, OIDC, and LDAP

  • Experience with scripting languages to support identity automation

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt your style to different audiences and collaborate across teams

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
