Job Description:

As a Sr Network Systems Consultant, you'll help shape the tools and optimization products that power Southwest's Network Planning decisions. Partnering with Business Owners, frontline Customers, Technology Teams, vendors, and external support partners, you'll ensure Network Planning systems are reliable, high-quality, and ready to support evolving business needs. You'll research industry and technology trends, analyze complex data, evaluate scenarios, and translate findings into clear strategies, product roadmaps, and actionable recommendations. You'll also guide system deployments, improve models and processes, and use tools such as SQL, Alteryx, Python, R, and Tableau to turn raw data into meaningful insights. Through strategic thinking, technical expertise, and cross-functional leadership, you'll help Southwest maintain industry-leading planning capabilities and make smarter network decisions that strengthen operational performance, preparedness, and long-term success.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute the research and analysis of trends, the development of new strategies, processes, tools and reports
  • Mentor other team members and help develop Analysts and Consultants within and outside the team
  • Directly involved in understanding, improving and sharing available data sets with other teams within the business
  • Leverage his/hers and the team's technology skills (SQL, Alteryx, Python, R, Tableau, Big Data Concepts) and business knowledge to provide answers to business requests
  • Transform raw data into easily understood, presentable, and actionable findings
  • Lead the development and improvement of models and process including supporting their downline implementation
  • Facilitate and share technical guidance on principles and topics to groups around the business
  • Conducts analysis using optimization and other available tools to create and compare scenarios offering insights into how different ideas perform
  • Drive cross-departmental improvements for processes, staffing, schedule design, and irregular operations preparedness and management
  • Handle and manage multiple concurrent projects assigned to the team

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expert knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, product planning, prioritization, and coordination of people and resources
  • Knowledge of strategic and financial analysis and analytical and quantitative skills
  • Highly skilled in PowerPoint to synthesize information and develop presentations for Senior Leadership and affected stakeholders
  • Skilled in written and verbal communication with diverse audiences, including both technical and non-technical customers, colleagues, and executives
  • Skilled the Microsoft Office Suite products such as Excel, SharePoint, etc.
  • Skilled in applying a methodical and logical approach to complex problem solving
  • Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and to provide direction in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work under stressful situations and manage time effectively
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet department objectives and goals

Education

Experience
  • Required: Expert-level experience, expansive and far reaching knowledge in:
    • Solving complex problems and driving multiple stakeholders towards implementable solutions
    • Leading programs that can span multiple work groups and/or departments
  • Preferred: Experience with software development, requirements gathering, testing, and solution implementation.
  • Preferred: Experience with codeshare, distribution systems, or related airline commercial and operational processes.

  • Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
  • Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job

Pay & Benefits:
  • Competitive market salary from $132,200.00 per year to $146,900.00 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
