Position Overview

The Senior Data Engineer designs, builds, and supports RugsUSA's enterprise data warehouse and business intelligence platform. Working closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams, this role develops scalable data models and pipelines that support dashboards using the Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt, and Sigma stack to deliver reliable, high-quality data and actionable insights. The role also supports ongoing platform performance, data quality, and self-service analytics across the organization.

This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence in our Manhattan office 3 to 4 days per week.

Essential Job Functions

Assist External Implementation Partner to stand up data warehouse and business intelligence tools

  • As part of a results-oriented internal team, supported by an external partner, assist with the implementation, maintenance, and support of our Fivetran > Snowflake > dbt > Sigma data warehouse stack to enable the business to make informed decisions.
  • Interact with internal stakeholders to gather/develop functional and technical requirements and translate them into reporting solutions.
  • Provide quality and performant data modeling solutions to RugsUSA cross-functional business units.
  • Work collaboratively with Enterprise Data Analysts, Data Governance Team to help define, develop and implement solutions and provide services for the enterprise data warehouse.
  • Model, design, develop, test and implement the appropriate backend structures needed to meet business visualization and reporting requirements, as defined by the business users.
  • Build aggregate data models. Manage the data flow to be used in dashboards to meet business requirements.
  • Work on data transformation using the ELT tools. Build dimension views and fact tables.
  • Data formatting and processing to build the foundation layer for dashboards and self-service reporting.
  • Manage the steady state data warehouse and BI output.
  • Responsible for requirements gathering and data transformation coding.
  • Troubleshoot data anomalies with key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for daily support of the data warehouse and associated data marts.
  • Coordinate key stakeholders to align with change management processes and to ensure performance, processes, and access are optimal for reporting solutions.
  • Work collaboratively to align business requirements with reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Improve processes regarding data flow and quality to improve data accuracy, viability, and value.
  • Document development for peer reference and knowledge transfer.

You Have

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related technical field, followed by a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a Software Engineering role (e.g., Project Lead, Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineer, etc.).

  • Experience developing and supporting the Snowflake, Fivetran, and dbt platform stack to ensure performance, process, and access are optimal for the global reporting solution.
  • Experience with dbt as a data modeling tool.
  • Experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse and Medallion Star Schema's data modeling.
  • Experience in technical design of data modeling for Snowflake to support the ongoing Business requirements formulation process for Enterprise Business Analytics operations.
  • Experience supporting data analytics, reporting, or business intelligence functions within the retail or e-commerce industry is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with data governance practices, including data quality standards, access controls, and metadata management within a Snowflake environment.
  • Experience building and maintaining semantic layers with Snowflake (e.g., dbt semantic layer, Snowflake views) to enable consistent, governed self-service reporting.
  • You have been using AI Coding to accelerate your Data Engineering Workflows and business with AI enabled solutions via Snowflake, Claude Enterprise or AWS Agents
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following:
  • Snowflake Data warehouse architecture, including dimensional modeling, ELT design, and Snowflake-based cloud data platforms.
  • Fivetran data integration replication for data ingestion.
  • SQL and strong data transformation.
