Sr. Commodity Manager Metals - PFX

Location: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Base Salary Rate: $142,520.00 to $167,670.00

About This Role

The Senior Commodity Manager will lead the global sourcing strategy for metals, valves, fire extinguishers, and related engineered components for Kidde Global Solutions. This role owns supplier strategy, cost productivity, supplier performance, commodity risk management, and sourcing execution for critical product families supporting fire safety, suppression, and portable equipment platforms.

This individual will also develop and execute strategic sourcing and commodity management plans for assigned categories and suppliers. Owns supplier performance from a commercial, quality, delivery, continuity of supply, and total-cost perspective. Leads sourcing activity from market analysis and RFQ through supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, implementation, and ongoing performance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the multi-year global sourcing strategy for metals, valves, fire extinguishers, and related mechanical or sourced finished goods categories.
  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes, should-cost analysis, supplier selection, award recommendations, contract negotiations, and implementation of sourcing decisions.
  • Negotiate pricing, indexed commodity mechanisms, payment terms, lead times, capacity commitments, MOQ structures, tooling ownership, quality requirements, warranty support, and productivity commitments.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, quality, and product management to support supplier qualification, PPAP/FAI or equivalent approvals, drawing/specification alignment, product transfers, make/buy decisions, and design-to-value opportunities.
  • Establish standards and supplier networks that improve production location alignment, capacity coverage, supply resiliency, and continuity of supply for critical fire safety products.
  • Analyze supplier cost drivers, including steel, aluminum, copper, zinc, labor, energy, coatings, machining cycle time, scrap, freight, tariffs, FX, and conversion economics.
  • Create and manage a productivity pipeline that includes supplier consolidation, indexed pricing governance, localization, competitive sourcing, should-cost negotiation, value engineering, and total-cost reduction.
  • Review and recommend suppliers based on total value, including cost, manufacturing capability, quality system maturity, certification requirements, delivery performance, business continuity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor metals, valve, extinguisher, and relevant commodity markets and communicate inflation, tariff, capacity, logistics, and supply risks to procurement and business leadership.
  • Manage supplier performance reviews, escalation plans, recovery actions, and long-term improvement roadmaps with quality, operations, planning, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Ensure sourcing decisions comply with trade, safety, regulatory, restricted-party, supplier onboarding, NDA, tooling, and contract requirements.
  • Develop direct reports or matrixed team members by setting priorities, coaching sourcing discipline, and driving a clear operating cadence.
  • Gross and net productivity delivery against approved annual targets.
  • Supplier consolidation, preferred supplier utilization, and reduction of unmanaged spend.
  • Supply continuity, supplier on-time delivery, supplier quality performance, and lead-time reduction.
  • Contract coverage, payment-term improvement, and working-capital contribution.
  • Inflation mitigation, cost-avoidance delivery, and market intelligence adoption by the business.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and speed of execution across engineering, operations, quality, finance, and business unit teams.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, commodity management, supplier management, or supply chain experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in supply chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated experience leading RFQs/RFPs, supplier negotiations, contract/commercial term development, supplier transitions, and cross-functional sourcing projects.
  • Strong analytical capability, including cost modeling, TCO analysis, market benchmarking, supplier quote analysis, and executive-level business case development.
  • Ability to lead across a matrixed global organization and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience working with ERP, sourcing, spend analytics, contract management, or supplier performance systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare executive-ready recommendations.
  • Direct experience sourcing metals, machined/fabricated components, valves, pressure-retaining components, contract manufacturing, sourced finished goods, or engineered mechanical assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of metal conversion economics, indexed commodity pricing, tooling/commercial ownership, supplier qualification, and manufacturing footprint trade-offs
  • Experience in fire safety, suppression, industrial products, HVAC, building technologies, automotive, aerospace, pressure vessels, or other regulated mechanical manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with global metals markets, low-cost-region sourcing, supplier localization, contract manufacturing, and engineered product transitions.
  • APICS, CPSM, CIPS, Six Sigma, project management, or equivalent certification.


Compensation and Benefits

Individuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company's performance. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements.
