About This Role

The Commodity Manager will lead the global electronic components sourcing strategy for Kidde Global Solutions, including supplier strategy, negotiations, supplier performance, continuity of supply, cost productivity, and cross-functional support for product platforms. This role partners with engineering, operations, quality, finance, and business unit leaders to source components that meet standards for price, quality, delivery, technology alignment, and reliability of supply.

This individual will also develop and execute strategic sourcing and commodity management plans for assigned categories and suppliers. Owns supplier performance from a commercial, quality, delivery, continuity of supply, and total-cost perspective. Leads sourcing activity from market analysis and RFQ through supplier selection, negotiation, contracting, implementation, and ongoing performance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the multi-year global sourcing strategy for electronic components, including preferred supplier strategy, supplier segmentation, market intelligence, risk mitigation, and cost productivity roadmap.
  • Lead RFQ/RFP processes, bid analysis, supplier selection recommendations, award approvals, and implementation plans for assigned electronic categories and suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, rebates, lead times, payment terms, allocation commitments, quality requirements, inventory programs, VMI/consignment opportunities, and other commercial terms with suppliers and distributors.
  • Partner with engineering and product teams to support BOM review, component selection, second-source qualification, PCBA strategy, design-to-value opportunities, product lifecycle management, and obsolescence mitigation.
  • Establish supplier standards and networks that improve capacity availability, production location alignment, resiliency, and continuity of supply across global operations.
  • Analyze supplier cost drivers, including wafer/fab capacity, resin and metals pass-throughs, FX, freight, tariffs, MOQ/MPQ structures, lifecycle status, and distributor margin structures.
  • Create and manage a savings pipeline that includes sourcing events, supplier consolidation, alternate component qualification, value engineering, negotiation, and total-cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review and recommend supplier awards based on total value, including price, quality, delivery, technical capability, risk profile, working capital impact, and business continuity considerations.
  • Monitor electronics market conditions and communicate inflation, allocation, geopolitical, tariff, and obsolescence risks to procurement and business leadership.
  • Manage supplier performance reviews and corrective action plans in partnership with quality, engineering, operations, and planning teams.
  • Ensure sourcing decisions comply with trade, sanctions, restricted-party, cybersecurity, NDA, and supplier onboarding requirements.
  • Develop direct reports or matrixed team members by setting priorities, coaching strategic sourcing discipline, and creating clear execution cadence.
  • Gross and net productivity delivery against approved annual targets.
  • Supplier consolidation, preferred supplier utilization, and reduction of unmanaged spend.
  • Supply continuity, supplier on-time delivery, supplier quality performance, and lead-time reduction.
  • Contract coverage, payment-term improvement, and working-capital contribution.
  • Inflation mitigation, cost-avoidance delivery, and market intelligence adoption by the business.
  • Stakeholder satisfaction and speed of execution across engineering, operations, quality, finance, and business unit teams.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, electronics commodity management, supplier management, or supply chain experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience leading RFQs/RFPs, supplier negotiations, contract/commercial term development, supplier transitions, and cross-functional sourcing projects.
  • Strong analytical capability, including cost modeling, TCO analysis, market benchmarking, supplier quote analysis, and executive-level business case development.
  • Ability to lead across a matrixed global organization and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Experience working with ERP, sourcing, spend analytics, contract management, or supplier performance systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare executive-ready recommendations.
  • Direct experience sourcing electronic components, PCBAs, semiconductor distribution, EMS/CM services, or engineered electronic assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of component lifecycle management, second sourcing, BOM cost analysis, allocation management, and electronics supplier/distributor commercial models.
  • Experience in fire safety, connected products, industrial controls, consumer electronics, building technologies, automotive, aerospace, or other regulated/electronics-intensive manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with APAC electronics sourcing, EMS suppliers, authorized distribution, direct manufacturer negotiations, or global supplier transitions.
  • APICS, CPSM, CIPS, Six Sigma, project management, or equivalent certification.


Compensation and Benefits

Individuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company's performance.
