Manager, Systems Compliance Engineering

Location: On-site in Bradenton, FL

Base Salary Rate: $142,520 - 167,670 per year

About This Role

The Manager, Systems Compliance Engineering, is responsible for defining and executing the company's global compliance for fire and life safety products. This role leads engineering and regulatory engagement efforts to ensure products meet global codes, standards, and certification requirements while supporting business growth, cost efficiency, and innovation.

This position serves as the company's primary authority with regulatory agencies and integrates compliance requirements into product development and lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the prioritization of system compliance staff project workloads to align with business and product development priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC, Industry Canada, and CE EMC directives for RF emissions and immunity.
  • Lead environmental compliance efforts including RoHS, REACH, POPs, PFAS, China RoHS, California Proposition 65, TSCA, and Canadian toxic substance regulations.
  • Integrate compliance requirements into product design, development, and lifecycle management.
  • Implement approvals strategy for North America, Europe, China, and other international markets.
  • Optimize certification cycle time, cost, and predictability through process excellence.
  • Mentor and develop compliance, engineering, and product teams on applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage communications, expectations, and priorities with test and certification agencies to ensure timely and predictable approvals.
  • Provide regulatory risk assessment and act as an escalation point for complex compliance, environmental, or legal issues.


Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strategic leadership of global compliance organizations and workload prioritization.
  • Regulatory experience in FCC, Industry Canada, and CE EMC RF emissions and immunity requirements.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations including RoHS (EU & China), REACH Articles 33 and 67, POPs Regulation, PFAS reporting, Proposition 65, TSCA, and Canadian toxic substances regulations.
  • Test agency relationship management and certification project coordination.
  • Proven mentoring and coaching capabilities for compliance and engineering teams.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product management, sourcing, quality, and operations.
  • Process design, governance, and continuous improvement in global compliance operations.


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in fire and life safety systems, regulatory compliance, certification engineering, or product safety


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree within a technical discipline (Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance organizations.
  • Working knowledge of EMC (FCC, IC), UL, ULC, FM, CSFM, NYFD COA, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience mentoring and managing people.
  • Working knowledge of EN (Europe), GB (China), and global environmental compliance requirements.

The final compensation for this position will be set based on the individual's knowledge, skills, and experience as it relates to the job requirements.
