Minimum qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- Experience with Distributed Systems concepts (CAP theorem, Consensus protocols like Paxos/Raft).
- Experience programming in C or C.
- Experience with databases (ACID properties, Isolation levels, Indexing structures, Join algorithms), memory management, pointers, and multithreading.
Preferred qualifications:- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- Experience hacking on the internals of an open-source database (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite) or a storage engine (RocksDB, LevelDB).
- Experience with compiler theory, query optimization (cost-based optimization), or vectorized execution engines.
- Experience analyzing performance using standard benchmarks (TPC-C, TPC-H, Sysbench) and profiling tools (perf, eBPF).
- Understanding of lock-free data structures, latches, and thread synchronization.
About the jobIn this role, you will work on the core database engine. You will design and implement features deep within the stack-ranging from the Query Optimizer and Execution Engine to the Storage Layer and Transaction Manager. You will collaborate with Executive and Staff engineers to push the boundaries of what a relational database can do in the cloud.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$211,000 bonus equity benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities - Write product or system development code.
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
