Job Summary

The Software Engineer contributes as a member of the Development Team throughout each phase of the software development lifecycle, including technical proof of concepts, design activities, system implementation, and automated testing. The role works under close supervision on technical tasks of high complexity across medium- to large-scale systems while utilizing established standards and best practices. The Software Engineer works across multiple teams to support seamless system integration and may mentor other team members.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop high-quality code with minimal disruption to the production environment while helping the team meet project deadlines.
• Work as an individual contributor across multiple teams to complete varying technical tasks.
• Understand upstream and downstream processes and interfacing systems to ensure seamless integration with other systems.
• Submit and track requests to resolve network blockers and security requirements needed to complete integration and delivery activities.
• Document contributions to solution designs in a team setting and actively seek feedback from peers during design sessions.
• Communicate regularly on the progress of work products and deliverables to management and team members during daily standups and design sessions.
• Participate in peer review sessions and lead by example in constructively reviewing technical deliverables.
• Document technology standards and best practices and ensure adherence to them across the team.
• Conduct application and database performance analysis, review log files, and troubleshoot and monitor applications in partnership with the application support team.
• Assist in implementing reliable automated test cases to ensure application quality and stability in partnership with Quality Engineers.
• Mentor team members as needed.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 4-6+ years of experience in software design and web development.
• Strong programming skills in object-oriented languages, with Java preferred.
• Strong Java and Spring Framework experience.
• Strong SQL skills, including database object creation and stored procedures.
• Proficiency with at least one Unix or Unix variant system.
• Familiarity with at least one relational database system.
• Experience with Spring, MVC, JavaScript, AJAX, ORM, and web services.
• Experience with Angular.
• Experience with AWS services, including containerization and serverless technologies.
• Experience with build automation and code repository tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, and GitLab.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and differences from Waterfall methodologies.
• Excellent written and oral communication abilities, including presentation skills.
• Demonstrated independent thinking and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with additional AWS services and cloud-based application development.
• Experience mentoring team members and contributing to technical design discussions.
• Experience working across multiple development teams and integrated systems.
• Experience with automated testing and collaboration with Quality Engineering teams.
