About this opportunity Ericsson's Smart Factory team is looking for a Software Engineer to help build and maintain manufacturing applications that power reliable, scalable production systems. In this role, you will develop solutions using Ignition, C#, Java, and Python, ensuring all features and fixes align with established architectural standards and design patterns. What you will do - Implement features and changes for manufacturing applications using Ignition and related integrations, following established architectural patterns and standards.
- Create and modify Ignition screens, tags, bindings, and scripts based on existing patterns to meet functional requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and integrate solutions in C#, Java, and Python; enhance backend services as needed.
- Write clear, maintainable code and configuration items; incorporate feedback from code and design reviews to ensure implementations align with team standards.
- Clarify requirements with the Product Owner and stakeholders, translating business and shopfloor context into actionable technical tasks.
- Investigate, reproduce, and resolve defects; propose and deliver fixes and improvements in a timely manner.
- Support production systems as part of a team rotation, including data corrections, configuration changes, and routine maintenance tasks.
- Write and execute unit, manual, and regression tests to ensure quality and reliable delivery.
- Contribute to and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, user guides, and records of known issues, assumptions, and workarounds.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams through standups, planning, refinements, reviews, and retrospectives; participate in an on-call/extended support rotation (with agreed compensation and reimbursement per company policy).
The skills you bring - Practical experience or strong aptitude with Ignition or similar low-code/industrial automation platforms.
- Hands-on programming experience in C#, Python, Java, or comparable languages for developing services and integrations.
- Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL for querying, reporting, and basic data maintenance.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn manufacturing processes, shopfloor constraints, and domain-specific requirements.
- Ability to follow established architectural standards and design patterns, seek guidance when needed, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Automation/Control Systems, or a related STEM field - equivalent practical experience is equally welcome and valued.

Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date.
