Full Job Description
What We're Looking For:
Zebra Technologies is seeking an experienced Software Design Assurance Engineer (10+ years of experience) to drive software quality assessments and release readiness reviews for our mobile computing, machine vision, and embedded systems platforms.

In this highly cross-functional role, you will perform quality audits, evaluate risks, and guide test methodologies-including stability and stress strategies-from product development through to customer pilot environments. This position offers a unique opportunity to act as a powerful customer advocate while ensuring our next-generation technologies meet the highest performance and quality standards before going to market.

This role is a minimum of 3-days per week on-site in Zebra's Mississauga, Ontario, Canada office, 2 days remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform an analysis of SW Design Assurance for Embedded System Technology products and provide feedback for all the key Quality Metrics and deliverables executed by the functional teams, including:
  • Responsible for Software Quality assessment of Mobile Computing products, NPI Data Capture, Machine Vision, Embedded Systems Platform and device solutions.
  • Identifies deviations from stated product goals, standards, and processes.
  • Performs Software Quality Reviews, measure and monitor progress of programs under development.
  • Leads and conducts Product Release readiness reviews ensuring release criteria for software & device solutions are met and communicates all quality issues, risks, requirements gap prior to product approval.
  • Recommends latest technologies and new approaches in design and implementation of new technology
  • Enables strong customer advocacy support, specifically in Android, Windows, Data Capture and Machine Vision Technologies
  • Audits Alpha/Beta/Pilot/POC SW in customer environment when needed and executes critical customer use cases.
  • Guides the process of test methodologies, test strategy used in production of Zebra's NPI SW products and solutions including Software Stability, Stress, and performance strategies
  • Actively participates in Software Product and applications Risk Assessment and mitigation activities


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or STEM related field; Masters degree preferred
  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering & Computer Science
  • Must have Advanced knowledge, skill, and problem-solving ability on wireless technologies.
  • Must have Software QA automation experience working with any of the following technologies: Java, Python etc.
  • Knowledge of productivity tools such as JIRA, confluence, PowerBI etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of cause-and-effect relation between SW defects and potential customer impact use cases.
  • Strong Analytical skills, problem solving skills and excellent communication skills
  • Android, C, C++ preferred
  • Experience in delivery and manage multi release projects in AGILE (Scrum, Scaled Agile) and knowledge of SW tools like JIRA, Confluence and Power BI
  • Knowledge of the SDLC, testing concepts, methodologies, metrics, automated SW testing frameworks
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred for advanced problem solving of highly complex SW Quality use cases.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills


Pay Range:
$112,400.00 - $162,400.00 Annual

Incentive Compensation:
In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 12% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
