Full Job Description
Roseton Generating Station is a dual fuel-fired electric generating facility capable of operating on both natural gas and fuel oil. The station supplies power into the NYISO Zone G market / Lower Hudson Valley capacity zone and is located approximately 43 miles north of New York City. The plant generates up to approximately 4.2 MMlb/hr of steam at 2,600 psig and 10506F to drive a turbine/generator. The process is hazardous if not controlled properly; the Operator/Mechanic plays a key role in maintaining safe operation by detecting and mitigating process upsets and abnormal conditions.

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and support to plant operating staff while ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. This is a rotating shift position that includes weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and coach operating staff to promote safety, compliance, and performance excellence.
  • Oversee daily plant operations, including start-up, monitoring, and shutdown of equipment, ensuring adherence to operating procedures and technical specifications.
  • Monitor shift activities through operating data, PI systems, logs, and checklists to identify equipment issues and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Manage shift staffing needs, including manpower requirements, overtime scheduling, and absence tracking.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and administer corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations, including proper handling of hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and outages, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.
  • Facilitate shift handover communications, conduct training and safety meetings, and support the development of new operators.
  • Document daily activities in the Supervisor's log and report abnormal operating conditions or plant upsets to management.
  • Ensure effective use of the Lock-out/Tag-out system to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of plant operations.

  • Ability to work in demanding industrial environments, including extreme hot/cold conditions, loud noise, and around moving equipment.
  • Physical capability to climb stairs and ladders and wear protective clothing/equipment as required.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and periodic on-call status.
  • Base Salary range of $115,000 - $135,000
