Position Description & Qualifications

Looking for a technical writing opportunity at a place where you can be creative and innovative every day? Discover this great opportunity at our Fort Bliss, Texas location. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact on our military defense and safety of our soldiers by discovering your new role supporting this critical mission.

This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your Secret clearance.

Serco supports the US Army as a prime contractor for their Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) contract which supports designing and integrating capabilities that enable the service to employ Command Posts (CP) across the operational spectrum. Our team develops, integrates, and maintains modern and mobile solutions for an integrated CP infrastructure.

You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco functional area teams to deliver quality systems and associated supporting documentation. The team has been recognized by the Army Customer and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program.

In this role, you will:
  • Develop, organize, and write user guides, manuals, work instructions, training material, and other technical publications that are easy to understand.
  • Copyedit and technical content review for accuracy.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, bills of material, and configuration data.
  • Develop detailed installation and assembly work instructions from incomplete or evolving engineering information.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts, developers, and product managers to gather and interpret technical information.
  • Create diagrams, charts, and other visuals to enhance user comprehension of complex topics.
  • Apply a working knowledge of mechanical assemblies, electrical power distribution, wiring, connectors, communications/network equipment, and integrated hardware systems.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • An Active Secret Security Clearance
    • US Citizenship
  • a Bachelor's degree with 6 years of experience
    • OR a HS Diploma/GED and 11 years of experience
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, graphic design software, and other advanced document processor and technical content publishing software.
  • Demonstrated technical and mechanical proficiency
  • The ability to travel up to 75% of the time

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • Experience with document development to military standards.
  • Experience with graphic design software
  • Understanding of an ISO 9001:205 QMS system
