The Role

Do you want to be part of the RISC-V revolution? RISC-V and SiFive are redefining computing platforms for the 21st century.  SiFive, the world leader in RISC-V, is seeking an experienced server f\irmware architect.  In this role, you’ll be working on both application processor and microcontroller firmware for RISC-V servers.  You’ll work on TianoCore/EDK-II BIOSes, OpenSBI and other M-mode firmware environments, and their RISC-V system integration, working with upstream software and standards communities as necessary.  You’ll help write and implement platform microcontroller firmware on SiFive reference designs.  You’ll build BMC software environments, ensuring that they work well with our server designs.  You’ll debug challenging problems, working with our system software and system validation teams, on SiFive designs running in emulation.  And you’ll work with hardware architects and engineers, both inside SiFive and at RISC-V International, to improve RISC-V platform and system specifications. 

What we need to see

  • Experience developing and maintaining EDK-II/Tianocore core

  • Experience writing and debugging ACPI table and AML code

  • Experience with ACPI, UEFI, and Devicetree

  • Experience with DMTF manageability standards

  • Experience developing bare metal microcontroller code

  • Experience developing and debugging software on FPGA and emulation platforms 

  • Experience reviewing and writing specifications

  • A strong track record of writing clean and maintainable C code

Ways to stand out

  • Familiarity with the RISC-V architecture

  • Familiarity with OpenBMC and other BMC software environments

  • Familiarity with Rust

  • Familiarity with system power management 

  • Familiarity with PCIe 

  • Familiarity with debugging systems via hardware debuggers

We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location.  Please note that the base pay range is a guideline, and our compensation range reflects the cost of labor in the U.S. geographic market based on the location of the role. Pay within these ranges varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and relevant work experience.

Base Pay Range
