Full Job Description
Job Summary:

Senior Well Design Engineer is responsible for performing casing and/or tubing design modelling for various reservoirs using tubular design and simulation software for both offshore and land wells. Will perform casing and tubing stress analysis, torque & drag simulations, and conduct root cause failure analysis as needed.

Experience & Education:
  • Minimum 10 years in O&G required, preferably with Operator design planning experience
  • 5 years of experience in relevant position
  • Relevant Engineering degree required; advanced degree(s) preferred
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license preferred
  • Familiar with deepwater well design and operations; HPHT preferred
  • Familiar with tubular stress analysis software (e.g., Stresscheck™, Wellcat™, etc.)
  • Familiar with various connection types and performance envelopes, and common completion componentry used in well construction
  • Familiar with torque and drag software (e.g., WellPlan™, etc.)
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships, work quality, time, and budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present at industry seminars/conferences/meetings
  • Ability to travel offshore and internationally

Essential Duties& Responsibilities:
  • Perform casing / tubing design analysis in design software and generate reports
  • Perform torque and drag modelling for various well construction scenarios
  • Interface with clients on project deliverables and deadlines
  • Track time/cost accruals versus project time/cost estimates
  • Identify and develop business opportunities
  • Train and mentor engineers from team in the areas of well design
  • Interface with Finance & Accounting to provide pertinent billing information and project setup to ensure timely and accurate accruals and invoicing to clients
  • Responsible for adhering to GATE policies and procedures in a positive manner
  • Proactively work to create positive and professional culture within GATE Energy
  • Other duties as assigned
