Job DescriptionPosition OverviewFusion Innovation is seeking an experienced Senior Web Developer to independently develop, maintain, and enhance a directorate-level website. This is a hands-on development position for a true web developer who can build websites from the ground up-not a content management or communications role.
The selected candidate will serve as the sole web developer supporting the website and must be comfortable independently managing technical requirements, troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements, and delivering reliable web solutions. The developer will work alongside communications and other stakeholders but will retain primary responsibility for the website's technical development and performance.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Build customized websites and web features from the ground up rather than relying exclusively on prebuilt templates.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for all website development needs.
- Translate business, communications, and functional requirements into effective technical solutions.
- Develop and customize websites using Joomla and WordPress.
- Create and maintain responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces.
- Troubleshoot website defects, performance issues, integrations, and compatibility problems.
- Implement website updates, new functionality, and technical improvements.
- Evaluate existing website architecture and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with communications personnel and other stakeholders while maintaining ownership of development activities.
- Test and validate website functionality across supported browsers and devices.
- Maintain technical documentation for website architecture, custom code, configurations, and ongoing maintenance.
- Apply web development standards and security best practices.
- Manage competing priorities and complete assignments with limited supervision.
Required Skills- Active Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph.
- Senior-level professional experience developing and maintaining websites.
- Strong hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with particular emphasis on JavaScript.
- Demonstrated experience creating websites from scratch.
- Experience developing and customizing websites using Joomla and WordPress.
- Ability to write, modify, test, and troubleshoot source code.
- Understanding of responsive web design, browser compatibility, accessibility, and website performance.
- Experience gathering requirements and translating them into functional web solutions.
- Ability to work independently as the primary or sole web developer supporting a website.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Desired Skills- Experience with graphic design, visual design, or UI/UX principles.
- Ability to apply design and usability concepts while maintaining web development as the primary focus.
- Experience advising stakeholders on website functionality, navigation, layout, and user experience.
- Experience supporting high-visibility organizational or executive-level websites.
Additional DetailsFusion Innovation anticipates the annual base salary for this position will generally range from $100,000 to $215,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to:
- Years of direct applicable experience with this work and the Customer
- Relevant education, certifications, and training
- Contract labor category requirements, skill level, contract bill rate, and hours allocation
- Alignment with the position's responsibilities
- Additional specialized skills
